TRADITIONAL TUXEDO FASHION
A righteous cruiser that's benefitted from a ground-up,
nut-and-bolt restoration, this sweet Chevelle might just be the
ultimate resto-mod. Visually, that exclusive status is achieved
through solid sheetmetal that was carefully stripped and lovingly
dressed in rich Tuxedo Black two-stage. Naturally, that familiar
pigment is pierced by crisp Classic White Rally Stripes. And it all
adds up to one stunning Chevy coupe that rolls as an ardent
champion for the best virtues of legendary American muscle: style,
performance AND approachability!
The car's clean profile flames to life with a stainless-trimmed
Super Sport grille, which floats between stainless-trimmed
headlights, stylish parking lamps and a broad bumper that's skinned
in fresh chrome. At the top of that grille, a pinned Cowl Induction
Hood traces factory-tint glass, which is dressed in straight
stainless and capped with polished rails. At the sides of the car,
bright wheel trim joins traditional Super Sport fender badging to
add a little pizzazz while chromed door handles perfectly
complement a factory driver's mirror. And out back, a second broad
bumper centers a clean "SS" inlay between a classy Chevelle emblem,
polished exhaust tips and bright taillights.
LEGACY OF PERFORMANCE
Enact this Chevy's hood and you'll find 6.2 liters of divine GM
small block. Sourced directly from the pros at BluePrint Engines,
that hot LS3 twists 540 dyno-proven horsepower into 515 lb./ft. of
dyno-proven torque! At the front of that $17K mill, a Spectre Cold
Air Intake slinks breeze through a polished tube to an 87mm LT5 DBW
throttle body. A loaded intake feeds lightweight BluePrint Engines
heads while factory-style coils fire short BluePrint Engines wires.
A nodular crank and hypereutectic pistons, internally balanced by
the pros at BluePrint, join a hydraulic roller cam to provide stout
10.7 to 1 compression. Spent gases exit through coated Hooker
headers. There's a lightweight Cold Case radiator that's slid
between a polished support, a body-matched closeout and twin puller
fans. A bright CVF serpentine drive spins a polished alternator
opposite a polished AC compressor. And, as you likely deduced from
our photos, the 6-bolt engine rolls in a smooth, Satin Black frame
that's finished with niceties like billet caps, billet fluid
reservoirs and subtle, Satin Black valve covers.
BETTER THROUGH TIME
Check the bottom of this Chevelle and you'll find fresh, Satin
Black floors that frame a thoughtfully modified drivetrain. A
McLeod Super StreetPro twin-disc clutch kicks a stout Tremec
5-speed that, like the car's engine, was sourced directly from
BluePrint Engines. Power flows through a 3.5-inch aluminum
driveshaft, sourced directly from Inland Empire, which twists a
requisite Ford 9-inch that's finished with a posi-traction
differential, 31-spline axles and fun, 3.50 gears. Those gears push
a thoughtfully upgraded suspension that features two sway bars,
tubular control arms and adjustable QA-1 coil-overs. Turns are easy
thanks to fluid power steering. Braking is equally class thanks to
bright calipers and drilled and slotted rotors - all part of The
Right Stuff Detailing's Signature Big Brake Package. The
aforementioned headers dump spent gases into Mandrel-bent pipes,
which center a Pypes X crossover in front of Pypes Street Pro
mufflers. And everything rolls on handsome U.S. Mags Bullets, which
lap 225/45ZR18 Continental ExtremeContacts in front of 275/35ZR20
Continental ExtremeContacts.
CONSERVATIVE CUSTOMIZATION
Given the broad aftermarket support enjoyed by Chevy, it's
relatively easy to build a serious performer. But most builds fail
to refine that muscle into something that's livable on an everyday
basis. After all, what fun is turning heads down Main Street if the
ride there is almost insufferable? This coupe's customized cockpit
kicks off with thick TMI buckets that feature striking white
stitches. A monochromatic dash hangs attractive Dakota Digital VHX
telemetry next to controls for Vintage Air conditioning and
Bluetooth-capable Retro Radio audio. Factory side panels front
convenient power windows. New carpet frames a simple Hurst shifter.
The driver spins a Super Sport themed Rally Wheel around a tilting
column. And that laid-back style continues through a fully carpeted
trunk.
