Vehicle Description
This 1957 Chevrolet 210 Townsman wagon has been given a detailed
restoration that is award-worthy. And that's not just our opinion,
this is a multiple AACA award winner, including at the Grand
Nationals in 2019. It's such a detailed classic that there's even a
mini and matching kiddie car for the cargo area! It all makes for a
V8 cruiser that's rare, interesting, and absolutely stunning.
This Chevy 210 has the right kind of history for a car of its
caliber. The story in the car circles is that the first owner
husband and wife kept it for about 40 years. After that, it has
seen only garage kept care and a comprehensive restoration. And
this car deserves that kind of extra attention. The 210 Townsman
was nearly as rare as the Bel Air wagon version, and far fewer were
produced than the other iconic '57 coupes or convertibles. And a
proper restoration means all that chrome and stainless look
terrific. It includes the wide grille and bumper package, and the
full-length body trim that frames the iconic bright tailfins. There
are also the details you don't often get elsewhere, including the
stock wheel covers and a full luggage rack. The factory-correct
paint package is also impressive. The Tropical Turquoise has a
bright glow to capture the cheery optimism of the 1950s. And the
India Ivory is thoughtfully intertwined with the roof, tailfins,
and whitewalls making a distinctive two-tone.
A two-tone treatment continues inside, and it's now the kind of
crisp black and white that has the look of formal wear. Just like
the exterior, you'll love the vintage details with the working dome
light, textured upholstery inserts, party-ready split rear
tailgate, and even the correct accessory tissue box. And the
classic Chevy floor mats are done in blue to add a splash of color
while making it easier to invite guests along for the ride. The
restoration was all about making this feel quite fresh while
remaining very vintage, but they did include one modern addition.
There is a battery-powered kiddie car that's painted to match this
wagon. They have given it a special padded mounting in the back,
and so on those occasions when you're not hauling extra people,
this really lets you showcase something fun while showing off all
that clear glass that comes on this wagon.
Chevrolet touted how they enlarged the small block for more power
in '57. So we are excited to see that this still carries the
correct 283 cubic-inch displacement today. It looks great right
down to the Delco-Remy generator, glass washer fluid jar, and
factory-style air grabber with correct decals. This is the kind of
classic that loves to give you a true vintage feeling when you
cruise. And everything from the smooth shifts of the Powerglide
automatic transmission to the hum of the dual exhaust will have you
looking for the far away car shows just so you have an excuse to
hit the byways.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual, period-correct
literature, and restoration photos. The impressive level of
restoration even means a classic battery and a vintage oil filler
sleeve. It's the kind of little things that make the difference
where you can win over even the ficklest of car show judges. So no
matter if you love the look of a time capsule grocery getter or
want the prestigious hardware this can take home, you know there's
likely never going to be an opportunity at something of this
caliber ever again. So don't miss out, call today!
