Vehicle Description
Part roadster...part pickup...part factory retromod...and all the
way awesome. That's what makes this 2004 Chevrolet SSR such a great
modern classic. And so this low mileage and loaded specialty
machine is a terrific find.
This SSR is one of those nicely preserved examples that has
obviously led a very good life in the hands of those who appreciate
a unique machine. In fact, the odometer is believed to reflect the
vehicle's full actual mileage, and that would mean averaging less
than 750 miles annually. That tells you its life this far has been
more about sunny Sunday drives than the daily commute. That's why
the factory Slingshot Yellow continues to look so distinctive. And
the clean body lines show how we can appreciate how the SSR blended
the iconic Advance Design pickups of the 40s and 50s with modern
fender flares and an aggressive stance. While the glossy paint is
bold, don't forget to check out the other parts of this color
package. The black pinstripe and tinted windows look quite stylish
against the yellow. Plus, the hints of silver highlight some of the
best pieces, like the unique grille that bisects the headlights,
the retro-cool Chevrolet lettering up front, and the optional
running boards. And when the roof is down, even roll hoops
coordinate in silver. Plus, it makes the alloy wheels stand out,
and so you really take note of the larger and wider rear ones that
gave this a hot rod style stance right from the factory.
With just the touch of a button, the folding hardtop disappears
behind the seats. This reveals the black leather interior, which
makes the added exterior pinstripe looks even more thoughtful. Low
mileage means little seat time and so the leather seats continue to
look excellent and feel supple. It's part of a terrific driver's
package that includes recessed gauges, a tilt column, and the
grippy steering wheel has all the right modern fingertip controls.
And this one also has all the best loaded features for a luxury
cruiser. It includes power windows, power locks, keyless entry,
power mirrors, cup holders, a full center console, and an AM/FM/CD
stereo with Bose speakers. And the combination of cold-blowing air
conditioning and heated seats mean you and your passenger know how
to stay comfortable even when the top is down. This was a car that
let the stylists have their fun, and the reward is in the details,
including a waterfall of color between the seats that reminds us of
the first-generation Corvette. And because the truck bed is really
just a spacious trunk, they detailed it with full carpeting and
bright wood slats. This one was even personally upgraded with
coco-style mats with a cool black and yellow color theme.
The key to the SSR's performance is a 5.3-liter V8. It's a
300-horsepower factory specialty LS-based aluminum block motor that
has an ideal home in this factory retro-mod cruiser. In fact, the
guys who turn their 1950s Advance Design trucks into restomods look
for this powerhouse. The reason why this motor stays in demand is
that it's built to be the modern motor that fires up easily, idles
smoothly, and knows how to pull with the kind of power and torque
to be a ton of fun. The four-speed automatic transmission with
overdrive is ideal for comfort in town or on the highway. Chevrolet
also called the suspension Boulevard Ride in the way it's made for
cruising. Plus, with four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, and
Michelin tires, it makes for an appealing car that will happily
have you adding to the low odometer.

unique. Now is your time to get this well-respected modern classic
