Vehicle Description
Dodge had a new and exciting style for 1955, and this Coronet
really showcases it. Triple-tone paint, an intricately vintage
interior, and a Super Red Ram V8 under the hood are all part of
what makes this hardtop one of the most interesting classics out
there.
1955 was a great year to be a Mopar fan. The Cornet was restyled
with crisply defined lines on the pointed nose, flared fenders, and
a hint of tailfin. And because artful chrome is essential to a
1950s machine, you have cool bumper details like how the rear one
contours around the tailfin and the split grille wraps around the
corner just like the front bumper. The brightwork also is used as a
clear dividing line for the red and black along the body. And while
other 1955 cars would do something similar, like the two-tone on
Chevy's Bel Air, the new Coronet seems even more creative with the
way it starts at the distinctly pointed hood and zooms down the
whole body. Plus, while other car companies were proud of their
two-tone, this Dodge has a white roof for an attractive triple-tone
style. It was resprayed in 2004, but we'd have to tell you the date
because it can put some new applications to shame. It's all part of
a total package that looks very vintage that has also been given
the right respect. So it's a detailed style right down to the
golden V8 badges on the side and stock wheel covers. It makes for a
detailed style with just the right touch of age to let people know
you proudly have a vintage cruiser.
The door panels continue the exterior's triple-tone, and it also
introduces a tasteful perforated gray. This was part of an update
in 2020 and includes the seats in this color theme. It makes for an
inviting atmosphere that also remains quite vintage. So its details
feel quite original, everywhere from the stand-up spare on the
trunk to the Coronet insignia on the steering wheel. And driving it
is a true 1950s experience. This was the beginning of the jet age,
and the round gauges and bright levers almost feel ready to take
flight.
If you're a Mopar fan, you'll love showing off the engine bay. The
Polyspheric 270 cubic-inch Super Red Ram motor is correct for the
era and a rare sight today. So this one is made to be displayed
with a clean silver style and callouts on the valve covers. It
makes for a nice mix of a well-presented classic and also a
driver-ready style that doesn't make you worried about a little
dirt in the engine bay. After all, this torque-filled powerhouse is
fun to take out on the road. And features like the automatic
transmission and modern touring tires give this classic the right
cruiser feel.
The sale comes complete with build receipts and maintenance
records. This is the classic V8 hardtop with distinction inside and
out. So you know this is the cruiser that will get you noticed.
