For Sale: 1949 GMC Van in Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey
Zoom Classic Cars is proud to present this meticulously restored
1949 GMC Panel Truck (1/2 Ton series). This trucks restoration
certainly included visual elements but was also highly focused to
its mechanics, overall functionality and reliability - everything
in this truck works as it should, including its highly desirable
and rare "variable" heat option, this 49 GMC is ready for the road
and continued enjoyment. The truck has remained in the current
owner's family since 1955 and received most of its restoration in
the 1990's. The owner reports its history as being used as a
delivery vehicle by a dry-cleaning company prior to his father's
purchase in 1955 with the intent to use it as their shop truck for
a family run automotive repair business - Closter Motors. The truck
has since been passed down in the family and certainly well cared
for to maintain its legacy and overall driving enjoyment. Exterior
wise this vehicle shows excellent with just a few very minor paint
scratches in its classic Green attire, there are NO signs of
concerning body work or rust/rot evident which is consistent to the
overall quality behind this restoration. For body history the owner
reports some rust repair to the front fenders and additional metal
work performed to the top of the rear fenders - all professionally
completed prior to paint. Exterior Chrome and attributes are all
beautifully clean, all lighting clean and functional. Interior wise
this truck is finished in classic brown and grey attire and shows
excellent, doors close tight and well, under dash is fully detailed
and all functioning elements including the "variable" heat control
which was an option back in 1949. Finishing interior detail
includes seats as classic finished Vinyl, and the cabin repainted
during its overall refreshment as well as rubber mats installed as
protective floor coverings. The rear cargo area retains its
restored wood flooring finished in Black topped with a classic
rubber protective mat, storage includes a compartment under the
passenger seat. The rear cargo area also retains cloth hanger bars
originally installed during its Dry-Cleaning delivery days. The
only known issue is a non-functioning speedometer which is believed
to be a speedo gear drive issue, with that said milage shown is
believed to be inaccurate with true milage unknown. Other than this
one known issue this truck is ready to drive and runs excellent.
This truck is finished with chrome front and rear, solid running
boards, full mirrors and classic ambulatory style rear doors. The
exterior lettering is vinyl graphic that can be removed if not
desired by a new owner. For driveline this truck maintains a clean
running 228Ci inline six cylinders mated to the correct four speed
manual transmission - all running well. Classic steel wheels with
GMC covers and polished trim rings mate to the road with BFG
Silvertown tires with a rear undermount spare. This vehicle has a
clean NJ Title and is located in Northern NJ. Call Scott at: (201)
