For Sale: 1986 AC Cobra in Huntington Station, New York
-Red with White racing stripes, Tan Leather interior, Tan
carpeting, 18,000 miles from new, Carbureted 427 cu. in V8 engine
with T5 Borg Warner 5-Speed, Halibrand Knock-off Wheels, One of the
last of the carbureted Mk IV's prior to the adaptation of fuel
injection.
As with all AC MK IV's the body is all aluminum built on the
original AC Cobra bucks. This example is a well-documented example
imported by Jack Roush, Roush Racing as verified by the Shelby
registry. Upon receiving the Mk IV, the engine was replaced with a
NASCAR qualifying engine built for Mark Martin, capable of 700+
horsepower at the crank, but detuned for street use. The Mk IV was
then set up and tuned by Red Johnson. The Carb has been downsized
to a Holly 650 with dual lines and an electric choke has been added
to ease the starting procedure and drivability.
This AC Cobra MK IV is accompanied by its tonneau, convertible top,
side screens, original Roush head, service records, receipts from
Jack Roush, knock off wheel hammer and jack, spare tire, and
original AutoKraft badges.
One of the last carbureted Mk IV's, this aluminum AC Cobra with its
one-off, special Ford-Roush Racing provenance is the last proper
aluminum AC Cobra with true Ford heritage.
