Vehicle Description
What do you get when you combine the smooth aesthetics of a
show-worthy street rod with the spry spirit of an old school muscle
car? This incredible Ford custom! With the universal appeal of high
dollar eye candy, and the road going prowess of a fully sorted
cruiser, this slick coupe is a unique, well-built classic that
provides its owner the best of both worlds. And what's better: you
can have your showstopper and drive it too for a fraction of the
money and time it takes to complete a ground-up build!
PRO-BUILT POISE
A head-turning street rod that's dashed with a fair amount of
muscle car swagger, this striking Ford features a detailed, custom
appearance that's highlighted by a spectacular coat of radiant red
two-stage. That pigment, sprayed by Lumberton, North Carolina's
James's Body Shop, showcases a solid, all-steel profile that was
ground-up restored by Lumberton, North Carolina's Taylor's Rod and
Custom. And today, this classic rolls as one lights-out head turner
that's virtually guaranteed to make you weak in the knees!
There really isn't much you can do to make an early '40s Ford more
attractive. The car's streamlined styling was a homerun when
originally introduced and, today, it's a stunning example of some
of the strongest elements of the highly regarded Art Deco movement.
At the front of this cherry custom, broad fenders center a textured
De Luxe Grille between stainless-trimmed H4 headlights and LED
marker lamps. An elegant, Ford-branded hood points classy,
V8-branded stainless between a guarded bumper and a tinted
greenhouse that's cleared by polished wipers. Extended doors swing
factory handles and relocated mirrors over padded running boards.
Extended quarters lead an extended decklid, which centers a chrome
handle and more stylish Ford branding beneath a flush antenna and a
frenched Center High Mount Stop Lamp. And a second guarded bumper
reflects a snazzy "V8" fuel cap and LED tail lamps.
POWER FOR THE AGES
Pop the hood and you'll find 350 cubic inches of proven Chevy small
block that looks good and runs great! A chromed air cleaner funnels
wind through a Holley Street Avenger 4-barrel, which revs thanks to
Russell hoses, an electronic choke and a quality Lokar linkage.
That carb feeds a coated Edelbrock intake, which looks great
between chromed breathers and chromed valve covers. The fires get
lit by a reliable Delco-Remy distributor, which, with the help of a
choice Lunati cam, sequences spark through loomed Taylor plug
wires. Spent gases fall through coated Sanderson headers. At the
front of those tubes, billet pulleys spin a polished alternator
beside a polished AC compressor. At the front of those ancillaries,
a flashy radiator centers a large electric puller fan between
corrugated hoses and a classy "V8" cap. And the bright red mill
rumbles in a detailed, body-matched engine bay that's finished with
louvered inner fenders.
SEAMLESS UPGRADES
Take a long look under this classic and you'll find a roster of
significant modifications that add up to impressive dynamics and
big performance gains. The buff 350 hangs a finned oil pan in front
of a cooled Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed that, itself, is fitted
with a vented pan. That color-keyed gearbox twists power to a tough
Ford 8-inch axle. That axle pushes a full Fat Man Fabrications
chassis, which stacks adjustable air bags on a Mustang II-style
front suspension and a 4-bar rear suspension. Tight turns are
provided by power rack-and-pinion steering. Stops are quick and
precise thanks to power-assisted GM discs. Miles of cruising come
courtesy of a welded fuel tank. Spent gases are managed by
aluminized pipes, which thread rowdy, glasspack-style mufflers. And
power pounds the pavement through color-keyed Chevrolet Rally
Wheels, which spin stylish Ford stainless inside 205/60R15 Americus
Touring Plus and 225/70R15 Turbo Tech Radial GTs.
PRO-BUILT CUSTOM
There's no shortage of street rods with custom interiors, but a
classic this cool always stands out! Installed by Lawrence Andrews
of Lumberton, North Carolina's Lawrence's Upholstery, the car's
custom cockpit kicks off with modern, power-operated buckets that
are stitched in plush leather. A classy dash, painted up by the
owners of Pineville, North Carolina's S&M Auto Paint & Body
Shop, centers cool Vintage Air conditioning between VDO telemetry
and Firestone air pressure controls. A polished mirror reflects a
dynamic headliner, which shades flowing side panels that are dotted
with factory handles, billet rests and controls for both power
windows and power door locks. A tall Lokar shifter leads a 12-disc
CD changer. And the driver spins a banjo-style steering wheel
around metal pedals, a stalk for modern Cruise Control and a
tilting column.
This striking Ford is a nicely finished classic that was built to
be driven AND seen. It uses top-notch components from some of the
best names in the business to create a unique custom that mixes
killer personality with awesome curb appeal. Looking for a road
ready hot rod that's guaranteed to draw a crowd wherever you go?
Your search is officially over!
