Vehicle Description
This 1990 Chevrolet Silverado 454 SS is a properly done power
pickup. And more than just big block power, this midnight stalker
has been given the right interments in upgrades to deliver a
comfortable A/C cruiser that also has more of that cool muscle
car/truck feeling.
This is the first year for the 454 SS package, and Chevy made an
impact by making sure their meanest pickup was only offered in
black. The high-gloss style you see today is the result of a
professional respray later in life. You will see a few details
inside and out from this truck being driven and enjoyed, but you
can already tell this has an impressive level of style. The stock
side trim was removed for a smoother style. And the upgraded
grille, headlights, and roll pan all add to this sleeker
appearance. Plus, the full bed cover makes the rear look smoother,
and it also allows you to have more secure storage and a carpeted
bed. The 20-inch Rilder wheels are basically the only spot of
brightwork. So they make sure to radiate from around all this
Silverado's darkness to show off the upgraded sporty stance.
The red interior has a good look from the dash pad to the
carpeting. The later switchover to red vinyl and a three-spoke
steering wheel reminds us of the Chevelle hardtop era. But there's
also a long list of comforts that show off decades of progress. The
R134a air conditioning, cup holder center console, tilt steering
column, thick floor mats, power windows, and power locks make this
feel quite modern. The radio is even an AM/FM/CD unit with
Bluetooth and a USB to plug in your cell phone.
The VIN specifically reminds us that these were big block machines
right from the factory, and in fact, the year-correct block is
believed to be original to this truck. It has been updated/upgraded
to really reflect the muscle car era. So you now have a Quick Fuel
four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock intake, and headers feeding
the full dual exhaust system. It's unknown if the odometer reflects
the full actual mileage, but you can tell there have been the right
investments in keeping this string, right down to details like the
GM Performance valve covers and steel braided lines with AN
fittings. The TH400 three-speed automatic transmission is terrific
for being stout but smooth. And the power steering, power brakes,
front discs, and modern sport tires afforded by the wheel upgrade
make for an easy-driving muscle truck.
Powerful, loaded, and unique in all the right ways, this Silverado
454 SS is one of the most fun ways to enjoy a true muscle machine
that helped define an era. Don't miss this big block Chevy, call
