1967 was the pinnacle year of the C2 and is one of the most sought
after examples of a Corvette. It was supposed to be the first year
for the C3, but Chevrolet prolonged the C2 by a year. The C2
Corvette design was awarded number 1 out of the top 100 car designs
by "Automobile Magazine." They said, "Like James Dean, JFK, and
Jimmy Clark, midyear Corvettes left the scene at the peak of their
game."
This car was purchased from the family that owned it since 1988.
They purchased the car after it had undergone a full restoration.
In 1988 they paid $55,000 for the car. The car was never driven,
they purchased 3 67' Big Blocks back then and parked them in a
climate controlled garage. When we pulled the car out of their
garage in 2018, it was the first time it had seen the light of day
since 1988. The car was painted with Original GM Tuxedo Black
Nitrocellulose Lacquer Paint. The products that were used to paint
the frames in the 80's has since evolved. We performed a frame off
restoration upon our purchase.
Once we pulled the car out and brought it to our facility we
removed the original fuel tank and carefully dusted off the tank
sticker and carefully removed it. The Tank Sticker was scanned and
sent to NCRS where they, "Validated," it. The car also has its
original Warranty Book "Protect-O-Plate."
A restoration was commenced on the car, we pulled the body of the
frame, we stripped everything off of the car. The frame was sent
out for powder coating, all of the driveline was rebuilt, the
trailing arms were rebuilt. All of the original hardware was sent
out to be replated. Every item on the car was carefully restored to
be as close to factory production. The engine was all rebuilt. It
was balanced, blueprinted and dyno'd. It's putting out about 479hp
at 6,200rpm and 472lb-ft of torque at 4,100rpm. This car was
restored to drive and not just show. All of the natural components
were coated with a matte clear to preserve them, the half shafts
were shot peened as the original ones were done on the Big
Blocks.
The car was debuted at the NCRS Metro Long Island event in May of
2022 where it earned a Top Flight right out of the gate. Post show,
we went through the judging sheets and changed some of the items to
help the car score higher the next time out.
This is a true investment grade Corvette that is documented and
awarded. It doesn't get much better than this example, Factory
Tuxedo Black, Factory Paperwork, Matching Numbers, NCRS Top Flight
and a fresh frame-off restoration. This is in the top 1% of
investment grade Corvettes.
