1950 DeSoto custom was among the last De Soto wagons with real word
Plymouth let its Woody would steal bodies late Only 600 wood wagons
were produced in 1950 perhaps only two or three remain of this
standard of example In 1950 this was a new variation of the toothy
grill and new style hood ornament that featured The helmeted head
of Hernando De Soto face that glowed when the lights were lit.
Under the hood is a 236CIDL head six cylinder that developed 112
pounds of horsepower. High compression heads well engineering
ignition system in low friction super finish internal parts to
reduce wear. A three spoon transmission was standard on a base
deluxe model while customs had a semi automatic transmission dubbed
tiptoe hydraulic shift fluid drive. This DeSoto wagon has won the
San Diego automotive museum directors choice award as well as the
lawyers Concours de elegance award for wagons. The maple and birch
wood finish both inside and out are a work of art. Meticulously
restored and preserved. Four page feature in collectible automobile
magazine February 2017. The restoration is approximately 10 years
