Vehicle Description
The new 1994 Ford Mustang was a big deal when it debuted, but if
you want to commemorate this leap forward, what you really want is
the hottest one around: the SVT Cobra. And this example was done
right if you are both a collector and a driver. You have
low-mileage cleanliness and stock style inside and out. But
underneath the skin are upgrades to the suspension and exhaust to
make sure you can have even more fun out on the road.
A benchmark Mustang needs to have all the right touches in place.
For example, the correct Rio Red has the kind of luster that will
give you pride at the car shows. It's believed that the odometer
reflects the full actual mileage, and that would mean averaging
under 1,400 miles annually. And this car certainly has the look of
less use and good care. So you can crisply see the unique Cobra
touches. Up front, there's the coiled snake badge and more
aggressive fascia with integrated fog lights. And in the rear is an
awesomely slick spoiler and bright dual exhaust tips. And those
17-inch alloys ushered in a new era of the most powerful Mustang
that came backed by Ford.
The interior was a well-planned piece of the Mustangs
redesign/rebirth, and just like the exterior, this one has the
clean look of a low-mileage car. The dual cowl style paid tribute
to the first generation, but now it gave the driver a newer level
of priority never seen before. You get a supple leather bucket seat
that power adjusts to the ideal driving position. White-faced
analog gauges, a leather-wrapped wheel, cruise control, and a
five-speed stick were also all part of the performance package for
the driver. Plus, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, dual
airbags, a premium AM/FM stereo, and cold-blowing air conditioning
make this a true modern classic. It's a highly stock appearance,
but you do get the right worthwhile additions, like tinted windows
and a Steeda shifter.
Ford's venerable 302 cubic inch V8 (AKA the 5.0) was revised for
1994. The Special Vehicle Team (SVT) were allowed to have as much
fun as possible with the hardy motor, and so they upped the power
to 240 ponies. That's 12 percent more than the standard GT and even
more than the famed Cobra R of the previous year. It's a
significant step forward, and so they kept this engine bay looking
stock, right down to the rubber boot over the distributor. But dig
a little deeper to discover that this mighty V8 coupe is even more
fun out on the road. The undercarriage photos reveal Hotchkiss
Performance suspension upgrades. And as you dig deep into the rev
range of this V8, you'll hear the deeper growl that comes from the
new Flowmaster mufflers and three-inch dual exhaust. And you're in
complete control of this high-octane symphony as you run row
through the five-speed manual transmission. And four-wheel power
disc brakes with ABS give you superior stopping power.
