Nicest and Well Documented Wooden Boats on the Market Boating is a
sensory experience in a beautiful wooden vintage boat like this
one. The vintage styling is pleasing to the eye and allows for wind
through your hair, the V8 sounds great at idle or with the throttle
cracked open, and deep breaths of the crisp air on the water is
always a great way to clear your head. A bonus opportunity for an
additional sensory experience on the water is that this is a ski
boat, which features a mid-ship ski tow ring. Strap on some water
skis and hang on for a great time being pulled behind this
beautiful boat. We like to think that this Century now looks as it
did when it first rolled off the line in 1968. A meticulous
restoration was performed, with all areas of the boat receiving
some sort of attention. We have a detailed chart that shows all
maintenance that was performed between 1999 and today. Its
quintessential 1960's styling features the beautiful wood hull,
'Century' and 'Resorter' script logos, teal interior trim, and a
panel of chrome ringed gauges mounted behind the large steering
wheel. Our client acquired the boat in 1999 while most of the
restoration work was performed between 1999 and 2001. This boat was
purchased new by a prominent family in Holland, Michigan where the
boat was used on Lake Macatawa. This boat probably made a few trips
through the channel that connects Lake Macatawa to Lake Michigan
for some boating on the big lake as many locals call it. The boat
changed hands in 1979, and again in 1983, before our client
acquired the boat in 1999. Scroll through our photo gallery, and
you will see that there are photos of the boat as it is being
restored, being put in the water for the first time after
restoration, along with a number of awards that the boat won fairly
recently. The original engine, which is a Ford Dearborn Marine
Interceptor 289ci V8 mated to a Velvet Drive transmission, powers
this boat over the waves. The engine and transmission were
professionally rebuilt by CD's Engine Service, and the combination
currently show low hours. While we're on the topic of mechanical
items, we should also mention that a marine Alternator and Carb
were added, new bilge pumps (with an aft bilge pump added), and a
bilge blower vent added. The Century Boat Club estimates that only
21 wood hull Resorters were built with the Ford 289 engine. This
boat is the third Resorter 15 built for the 1968 Model Year. 1968
was the last year for wooden hull production. Speaking of the hull,
it is comprised of an African Mahogany stem and keel rather than
white oak. The boat comes with a Manning trailer to ease the
transportation of this beautiful vessel. It is apparent that this
boat has been very well cared for, especially by our client. From
the detailed maintenance log, to the fit and finish, this boat has
clearly been treated as a prized possession. More folks are
purchasing wooden hulled boats for their beauty, collectibility,
and the sensory experience that comes along with a vintage wooden
boat. This beautiful Century Resorter could be your prized
possession, its beauty and history of care are things that are not
often found.
