Stock Number: 1691 - Going to the Mecum Dallas Auction September 10th. This is a 1978 Pontiac Special Edition Trans Am W72 - 400, 4spd Manual with Hurst T-Tops. It was sold New at Hallett Pontiac in Miami, Florida. There were only 489 of the W72 - 4 speed SE Trans AM's built at the Norwood Plant and this is one of them. You read that right, only 489 built. They are hands down one of the most collectable 1978 Trans AM produced. Pontiac really put in the effort with the New 220hp W72 Engine using a special casting revived from the earlier years and then added the WS6 handling package with its larger Sway Bars, Unique Spring Rates and Shock Valving. This car has both of these options. It has the Deluxe Interior with the New Seat and Door Panel design for 1978. These are highly sought after and coveted by those that own them.
