wide array of load capacities and body styles, the 1947 light-duty
truck lines from Dodge were the marques best sellers until then.
Built for hard work and used as such, few survive intact, making
them unusual and highly attractive base material for restorations
and street rods today. This highly attractive, premium-quality
build is a great case in point, featuring a fully boxed frame and
1979 Lincoln Versailles running gear including a 351 Windsor V-8
engine, C4 automatic transmission, and disc brake-equipped 9-inch
rear end.Underpinnings include a Mustang II front suspension kit
and tubular control arms supplied by Fat Man Fabrications, along
with a four-link rear suspension and coil-overs at all four
corners, making this truck drive and handle very much like a modern
car. Producing an estimated 400 horsepower and some 400 pounds-feet
of peak torque, the healthy 351 W mill runs on pump gas and
features 9.5:1 compression, a Comp cam and roller valvetrain, and
ported and polished heads. Delivering the power is a TCI-built Ford
C4 automatic transmission equipped with a 3000 RPM stall converter,
making this relatively light classic pickup truck a very surprising
performer. Electronic exhaust dump valves provide freer breathing
and an awesome exhaust note. Cool running is delivered by a
performance-type aluminum radiator. The Dodge maintains its
streamlined body styling, enhanced by shaved door handles and a
custom-built, all-steel tailgate and running boards. The interior
features a red leather bench seat by Teas and welcome amenities
include Vintage Air, supported by a Painless wiring harness. Other
choice highlights include power disc brakes with slotted rotors,
power steering with tilt column, power windows, and a
custom-fabricated instrument cluster housing VDO instruments. An
AM/FM CD stereo unit delivers additional entertainment in concert
with speakers mounted within a custom red leather-trimmed overhead
console. Finishing touches include the custom wood-plank cargo bed
with stainless retaining strips and polished fuel filler, plus
captivating Sunnybrook Farms vinyl graphics at each door. Polished
18X8-inch front and 20X10 rear wheels and fat tires deliver
additional attitude. Ready to enjoy with all the hard work already
done, this captivating 1947 Dodge Custom Pickup is a fabulous find,
just in time for spring and summer cruises, shows, and fun. Call us
