Vehicle Description
The 1988 Pontiac Firebird GTA was already the true king of Pontiac
performance, but this example takes all the driving features you
love and also has all the rarest factory features around. Yes, it's
a distinct Notchback coupe! So when you're looking for that one
fuel-injected V8 classic that will always draw added attention, you
need to dig deeper into this highly-optioned GTA.
Flame Red was pretty much the color that defined these GTA cars. It
gives you a vibrant metallic style that also has deeper tones to
let people know this was something special. This shows the right
signs of being the original factory application, and the odometer
is also believed to reflect the full actual mileage. The result is
a well-respected car that has also been driven. So the glossy red
could use a professional detail if you're taking this one to the
car show, but from day one, it knows how to impress with its sleek
shine and crisp body panels. These GTAs had a terrific sporty style
with the full body kit, vented hood, and rear spoiler. And the
crosslace alloy wheels gave these the sophisticated look of a
European grand touring machine. While the GTA was already
different-looking from the T/A, this one is even more unique. A few
lucky people dug deeper into their pockets to get the notchback
option. This was a specialty piece ordered from the factory that
took the rear back glass and gave you a sporty flat hatch with a
hint of flying buttress. It makes the car look beautifully
different, and it's also exceptionally rare with only 600-700
notchbacks believed to be ever delivered by Pontiac. So when you
realize that the GTA is a quite rare machine, and this has the
rarest body style, you can start to imagine you may never run into
another Pontiac like this ever!
For the same reason why we love the look of the gold wheels against
the deep red, we love the look of the golden tan interior. It has
an overall stock style and level of cleanliness that reinforces the
understanding that this rare Notchback has been respected as
something special. The GTAs were loaded with great features, like
the new-style bucket seats that include electronic inflatable
bolstering for extra comfort in all conditions. Plus, you have
power windows, power locks, power steering, cruise control, the
premium AM/FM/cassette stereo w/5-band equalizer, and cold-blowing
air conditioning. The sports steering wheel is different from most
other cars you see, and that's for a good reason. It helps control
the optional full digital dash package. It's a rarely-seen feature
that gives this Pontiac the kind of tech that would even make KITT
jealous.
They were quite good with the option boxes on this GTA, and that
includes the engine bay, too. The L98 5.7-liter fuel-injected V8
was shared with the C4 Corvette, and so it was the right choice for
a premium performance Pontiac. These were especially known for
their torque, and so the famously stout 700R4 four-speed automatic
transmission was the only pairing. It's a great piece that gives
you both confidence on the road and easy overdrive cruising. It
helps make for an all-around solid driver, and that's the key to a
great GTA. It came with features like four-wheel disc brakes and
the desirable WS6 sports suspension to encourage you to find the
open road.
Complete with owner's manual, you now understand that you're
looking at the rarest of the rare. So if you're ready for an
awesome GTA that's ready to hit the road, call today!
