For Sale: 1965 Ford Mustang in Lutz, Florida

Vehicle Description

It's always desirable to find a 1964.5 Ford Mustang. But when that one also has sought-after V8 power, four-on-the-floor, and a well-coordinated style, you realize that this is a true classic that you're truly going to want to drive it to show off everywhere.

This is truly a prized possession for a Mustang fan. After all, getting your hands on the first batch of this legendary car is a special club that gets more limited every year. But more than just history, you want this one for how well it's presented. Red is such a great way to represent the first run of the original pony car, and this one has the added distinction and sophistication of a black vinyl roof. The overall finish has a driver-quality style where you have a nice shine but nothing so fancy that you'll be afraid of the pebbles on the road. So while you can always update/upgrade the paint, this gives you a classic that's easy to drive on a whim. Plus, the clean brightwork, styled steel wheels, and distinct added side trim make for a car that will be admired for more than just its history.

The black vinyl roof on the outside is a nice preview of the full black vinyl interior. It's dark, clean, and attractive. There are good upgrades for a solid cruiser. The AM/FM/cassette stereo with equalizer means better driving music, and the oil pressure gauge is quite handy. And you get the classic Mustang driver-oriented pieces, like the grippy three-spoke steering wheel, front bucket seats, and optional center console.

The VIN tells us this is a D-code coupe. That's an important distinction to Mustang fans. It means this was born with a 289 cubic-inch V8. This is the motor that would become a legend in pony car circles, but it was only available for part of the already short run of 1964.5 cars. So with this kind of history, it's great to have a year-correct block still under the hood. But this one doesn't fully stand on tradition. That's why you'll spot worthwhile upgrades like the finned Mustang valve covers and a Holley four-barrel carburetor. And because this is a strong-runner and a driver's classic, you'll really appreciate the control of a four-speed manual car (the trim tag even tells us it was born this way.). There's also power steering, power brakes, and wide BF Goodrich T/As. And just to keep this the most ideal cruiser possible, there were new brakes added within the last few months, including front discs.

This is an exceptional classic that also wants to be a solid driver. So if you love pony car distinction, you know you want this early V8 Mustang. Call today!!!
