Collector Example RX-7 Featured here is an amazingly clean and all
original car. This 1982 Mazda RX-7 GSL has just over 39K miles and
has only had one owner. The car is stock and unmodified, always
garage kept, never driven in the winter, and has received regular
maintenance since new making it an excellent candidate to purchase
and collect. The original black finish presents well with a deep
luster and has been well maintained. There are few blemishes in the
paint and clearly it was always carefully parked far from any
potential carelessly opened doors. There are no indications of any
rust or collision repair. The panels all align well with consistent
body gaps throughout the body and features a removable sunroof and
flip up headlights. Additionally, a period correct rear window
hatch visor is present. Underneath the floorboards are solid and
rust free. The underbody is unrestored but well maintained. The GSL
option upgrades to four-wheel disc brakes and limited suspension
differential front torsion bar suspension and rear stabilizer bar.
Standard features for this Series 2 FB chassis RX-7 include a 12A
rotary rated at 100 hp and 105 lb-ft of torque mated to a 5-speed
manual transmission. In stock form, these first-gen cars boasted
50/50 weight distribution and a sub-2500-pound curb weight. This
car has been driving on the Bridgestone white-letter tires since
new in 1987. The red interior looks like it nearly showroom fresh
showing little if any wear. It is well optioned with full
instrumentation, tilt steering column, power windows, power locks,
power mirrors, cruise, rear de-ice and air conditioning. The
factory AM/FM/Cassette with Dolby noise reduction is present and
includes the factory equalizer and joystick control for quad
speaker control. These Mazda RX-7's fun to drive with a spirited
groundbreaking rotary powerplant. The GSL package added a list of
options that upped the luxury levels of this highly capable sports
car. With an excellent reputation for reliability and high-quality
build ratings when new it is unusual that one does not see more
high-quality surviving examples such as this car, but the reality
is you do not. Japanese cars such this Mazda have become highly
collectible, and this car is an excellent candidate for just that.
This car would be fun to drive on weekends and perhaps show at
Radwood car events where they highlight cars of the 90's and 80's.
