This immaculate 1966 C2 Corvette Stingray Coupe has many check marks of a
list to be considered very collectable. First the car and
attention to detail. The restoration took place 2002-2003 and
this car has been verified by several other appraisals within
the industry. The L72 427 425 HP big block engine is the number
one stand out option. The block is date
coded and all engine components are original including transmission and rear end. The side mounted exhaust system N14 is another big check mark along with the four-
speed M21 close ratio transmission and original factory knock-off rims. The teak steering wheel and the AM-FM Radio are safely preserved in
storage along with some stock suspension parts).
Production numbers from the 9958 produced with above
options drops this C2 Corvette less 3167 units.
The factory order date, DSO, ail original options, window
sticker and when it was first purchased would be available.
The history of this highly collectable Corvette is pleasing to
see. A detailed restoration history is well documented with updates to the cars suspension,
brakes, HVAC system and exhaust system is a valuable part of the vehicle history. The car was originally ordered by Champion
Chevrolet in Pasadena California, Dealer Code 85, Zone 20.
My classic Corvette was produced on June 14, 1966.
The restoration itself completed with more up-to-
date methods features the body lines and gaps tighter and more consistent body panel flow through out the car. The fit
and finish is well above the original factory assembly. The
exterior paint finish "Rallye Red Paint #974AA" and S4075 Body are outstanding with the
compliment chrome correct trim that this Corvette came
with. The current appraisal (April 2, 2022) vehicle condition evaluation with 1 being excellent and 6 being a parts car, this Corvette rated a 1 in all categories. Even with color combination, only 3136 units were produced. This number continues to go down. Corvette
Heritage may be able to provide additional information at a
reasonable cost by the car's serial number. The all-welded
five crossmember ladder type frame with trapezoidal-shaped
side members from the passenger area extending forward to
the forming engine support is very detailed and correct.
Underneath, this car features the same care and
attention as the topside of the car. Body mounts, grommets,
lines and hoses are fresh looking. The complete
undercarriage assembly is highly detailed and clean. The full
independent four-wheel suspension is fully restored to new.
An upgrade to the shocks and rear leaf spring took place in 2021 with the original
stock system carefully preserved.
The interior is a complete tribute to the car and all the GM
designers as the interior is flawless. The perfectly placed
seat belts, the floor carpet, rubber pedal pads, full gauge
cluster, dash, both bucket seats, middle console assembly
with shifter, headliner and sun visors are perfect. The newer steering wheel and AM/FM radio is present while all original
items safely stored. Several appraisals have been professionally completed verifying build content and continuity with respect to the
miles shown. A detailed accumulation of documents for this
C2 is present. Heritage and providence are very well
recorded. All extensive work has been done prior to the
present ownership. Authentic era correct service manuals
and the 1966 Corvette brochure is a great compliment to the history of the vehicle.
Recent auctions results have escalated the value with
respect to the C2 Corvette lineup. An unrestored, survivor
series 427 big block sold for just over $500,000US, This
result is enclosed with the vehicle appraisal completed April 2, 2022 along with the NCRS Historic Document completed April 1, 2022. After the sale of this
particular Corvette, values rose exceeding auction
estimates. The build on this l966 C2 Corvette with specific options
makes this car less than 1194 units produced with P48 cast
aluminum knock-off wheels. Then the combination of the
exterior color, engine, transmission, interior, and other
options come into play. The fuel tank for the Corvette was a
standard twenty gallon capacity. However, a thirty six-gallon
fuel tank was available and only 66 corvettes were
produced with this option. Another rare option was the M22
Four-speed close ratio manual transmission where only
fifteen Corvettes were produced with this option. The M21
four-speed close ratio transmission was a more popular
option with the 427 V8.
My classic Corvette C2 has extensive documentation prior to present ownership of this valued collector car and to date. Receipts with standard maintenance, windshield replacement and to restoring the side exhaust system is
very well documented and preserved.
My classic Corvette is stored in a secure and controlled environment and transported by enclosed aluminum car hauler trailer to select car shows and the occasional drive locally. The asking price of $135,000.00 USD or $179,000.00 CDN is appraised value. This appraised valuation as of May 1, 2024 has been estimated to have increased by approximately 10 - 15% by the appraiser and appraisal dated April 2, 2022..
