Vehicle Description
2007 Ford Mustang GT
The Mustang created the "pony car" class of American cars,
distinguished as affordable sporty coupes with long hoods and short
rear decks, and gave rise to competitors such as the Chevrolet
Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, AMC Javelin, Chrysler's revamped Plymouth
Barracuda, and the second-generation Dodge Challenger. The Mustang
is also credited for inspiring the designs of coupes such as the
Toyota Celica and Ford Capri, which were imported to the United
States. As of August 2018, over 10 million Mustangs have been
produced in the U.S.
For consignment, a GT version of the Mustang. This car has silver
decal stripes, a performance exhaust, the original window sticker
and a few bolt ons for some extra good looks. This is an S197
chassis GT, and in very nice condition with just a few performance
add-ons to give it the right look, sound, and stance.
Exterior
Vista Blue with silver tape stripes come together to create the
menacing look for this muscle car. Ford went all out for the
design, reminiscent of the early models it just looks beefier, and
more refined on the line aspect. The front of the car is more
"aero" designed, and has an integrated body matching bumper,
blackened grille with fog lights, and the ubiquitous galloping
pony. All these styling cues can be seen from way back in 1965 with
its grille shape, and rear taillight configuration. More retro
throwback appears with the triangle shaped quarter glass being
covered with body matching louvers and a bolt on Shelby style hood
scoop has been added to the long hood which fronts backed out trim
around beautiful glass. Blackened and matte sprayed side view
mirrors, some minimalistic but clean badging, and 17" factory
premium cast aluminum wheels wrapped with newer Continental
235/55ZR17's complete the look.
Interior
Gray leather and vinyl come together to make up the upholstery for
the front buckets and rear 2 plus 2 seats. As expected for the
mileage, both front seats show outer bolster wear and light soiling
on the lower cushions and the driver's bucket is powered, as are
the windows and locks. A very simple dash houses another cue, more
from 1967/1968 than 1965, in the form of the dual circular embedded
instruments behind the steering wheel, although the 65 version
utilized a horizontal speedometer. An AM/FM/CD Shaker 500 stereo
system, A/C, and traction control fill the center swooped down
section of the dash. A silver plastic highlighted automatic
shifter, cup holders, and storage bin with a padded armrest topper
all share space in the center console that makes its way past the
buckets to the rear 2 plus 2's. Nice gray carpet has gray carpeted
factory floor mats which protect the carpet and a clean black felt
headliner hangs above
Drivetrain
A 4.6 Liter, 3 Valve, V8 with EFI, attached to a 5R55S 5-speed
automatic transmission, puts power rearward to an 8.8" 3.31 geared
rear axle. All clean and green, (blue and black actually), under
this hood.
Undercarriage
Typifying thes miles to the car, only minor surface rust has
appeared on the usual suspects, and we note a spattering of road
dirt covering the goldish colored solid flooring. An independent
coil spring front suspension and 3-link rear suspension keep this
pony surefooted. As an add on to help this pony gallop is an axle
back dual exhaust system courtesy of Flowmaster. Power disc brakes
are noted all around as is power steering and the factory 2-piece
aluminum driveshaft.
Drive-Ability
Our muscle car crack decoder took this baby out to the track and he
had an absolute ball. I did not think he was going to return, but
alas he did and reported with a grin it performed great and is all
buttoned up on the drive-ability front. Sometimes it's nice to get
behind the wheel of an almost stock car and enjoy the way the
engineers and designers made them. All was working as it should and
the interior has that wonderful aged leather smell.
A well-presented and powerful running GT in Vista Blue with silver
tape stripes, a very nice throwback to the Shelbys of yore. A
well-kept, sharp looking throwback pony, presented for your
enjoyment here at Classic Auto Mall.
