"WHEN OLD IS NEW"
When an old soul gets a second chance, it's normal to expect it to
go through the same paces. But that isn't the case for this FJ
Cruiser aka the G43-S. Upon first glance, this vehicle may look
like a restoration project, but trust us, that isn't the case.
Every car that is created by the FJ Company is of custom spec per
the customer's taste (this example was tailor-made to Bruce
Canepa's specifications). They go through a process called
Resto-Manufacturing where about 40% of the donor's original steel
body panels are used while 60% is comprised of newly fabricated
panels using galvanized steel. The original chassis is modified,
reinforced, and "hot dip" galvanized, then fitted with a current
modern day Toyota engine, transmission, steering, and suspension
system.
The G43-S is the top-of-the-line signature model. It comes standard
with Toyota's 1GR-FE V6 fitted with a Magnuson supercharger and is
mated to a Toyota 5-speed manual transmission. It includes
custom-designed CNC-machined accessories, including mirrors,
shifter, foot pedals, window levers, and repurposed OEM bumpers
with integrated fog lights by Baja Designs. The interior is
reminiscent of the original, however, you'll find Recaro seats,
premium leather, a custom center console, JBL speakers, and an
Alpine entertainment system with Apple CarPlay. Unlike the Heritage
and Expedition trim, the Signature also includes OME BP-51
High-Performance shocks and Evo Corse DAKAR wheels in a gorgeous
gunmetal gray finish.
This car is built for almost anything. Whether you want to go for a
cruise in town, trips to the beach, camping, fishing, biking, or
even some serious off-road adventures, the G43-S can handle it all
and still be used as a daily driver. Upon Bruce's first drive he
noted that the suspension felt phenomenal and the FJ43 is the best
retro-mod on/off road vehicle he has ever driven. He also agreed
with The FJ Company's statement that although it may look like an
old car, it functions and performs like a modern vehicle. Don't let
its beautifully aged looks fool you, this G43-S is not just another
restoration, it's basically a brand new car that you can still
enjoy as a classic.
