this car.
Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful 1987
Mercedes Benz 560SL in great condition with only 95,850 original
miles. It looks nice, runs well, and is a great driver. The market
on the 560SL is absolutely red hot right now and this example is
priced to sell. Lower mileage and original examples of the R107
Mercedes SL are exceptionally difficult to find and draw a huge
premium in the current market. 95,850 miles is low for a Mercedes
from this era as they are built like tanks and can virtually run
forever when properly maintained. The original mileage is also
verified not only by the condition of the car, but also by the
clear Ohio title, pictured in this ad, showing the mileage as
"Actual."
I have personally put about 20 miles on this Mercedes in the past
couple weeks. During that time that car was completely reliable
with no issues and pleasure to drive. The previous owner said that
he purchased this 560SL when he lived in Texas. He then moved to
St. Louis, MO and drove the car from Texas to Missouri. He recently
moved from St. Louis to Cincinnati and drove the Mercedes on that
long trip also with no problems.
This 560SL comes with both the soft-top and auxiliary hardtop. This
is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Mercedes that is ready
to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy
this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years
to come as the values are on the rise. This Mercedes is finished in
the absolutely beautiful and highly desirable color combination of
Astral Silver (735) over Alpaca Gray Leather (278) with a Dark Blue
soft-top (744). This is also the correct and original color scheme
as verified by the codes on the vehicle data plate. Please peruse
all of the photos, video, and other information in this ad to get a
true sense of clean and nice this 560SL really is.
As a side note, this Mercedes is not a dealer auction vehicle. We
hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our classics come from
owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the
vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and
encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car
inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We
photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the
560SL, just give us a call.
Exterior
The Astral Silver (735) exterior is in good driver condition. As
one can see in the photos, the paint has a nice gloss and smooth
finish. The chrome and other bright-work look great with no
pitting. The original alloy wheels have no major curb rash. The
Michelin tires have about 90% tread left and are correctly sized
205/65R15. There are no major blemishes that have been
intentionally excluded from the photos. As one would expect from a
paint job with many years on it there are some small imperfections,
spots, and dings around the car that are too tiny so show up in the
photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five or
ten feet away. The Dark Blue convertible soft top is in good
condition overall. There are a couple spots of wear on the rear
windows in the typical spot where they contact the top mechanism
and a couple of spots that have been repaired in the fabric. Please
note that this appears to be the factory original soft top with the
Mercedes star logo in the windows, not some cheap aftermarket
replacement. The doors take a bit of extra effort to close. As one
can see in the many photos of the underside, this 560SL is very
solid underneath. We have also included specific photos of the
rockers, lower front and rear quarter panels, and other areas on
the car most prone to rust to show how nice it looks.
Interior
The Alpaca Gray Leather (278) interior of the 560SL is in good
original condition. All of the gauges faces are crisp and clean and
the lenses are clear. The headliner for the hardtop is in excellent
condition with no stains or sagging. The seats look in person as
they do in the photos showing some cracks and wear. The carpet
looks great with no rips, major stains, or holes. The original door
panels look wonderful with no cracks or splits, and both door pulls
are solid and intact. The dash has been capped and is in great
condition with no sun fading, and one crack which is visible in the
photos. The wood trim is showing its age in certain spots. This car
has never been smoked in; there is no aroma of cigarettes what so
ever and no burn marks.
The trunk is very clean and nicely detailed with the original spare
tire, and rim, jack.
Mechanical
This 560SL appears to be in very nice mechanical condition and it
is ready to be enjoyed. The engine starts right away every time,
runs well, and idles smooth. It is an exceptional driver that feels
great on the road and at highway speeds. In the video one can
observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph,
shifting through all the gears, braking to a stoplight, and going
through some curves. Please note that it runs great, there are no
strange noises or vibrations, and the car performs quite nice
overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or
the other. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car.
It runs cool and does not overheat. The gauge shows that the engine
makes great oil pressure. Also, the engine bay is clean, nicely
detailed, and correct as one can see from the photos.
Please note in the video the dash warning lights; they light up
when the key is first turned on and then go off when the engine is
started. There are no "check engine" lights that stay on. The horn
works as do the fog lights, headlights, brights, turn signals,
interior lights, indicators, dash gauges lights, wipers, power
locks, power antenna, and fan. All of the gauges work with the
obvious exception of the clock. The a/c does not blow cold so it
may need some freon. This car may have some other bugs so we would
encourage any perspective buyer to look at the car in person if
possible. The driver's door does not stay propped open. This
Mercedes has plenty of power with the 5.6 liter V8 engine. Not
enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this
car, especially with the top down on a beautiful day.
Overall Condition
Overall, this 1987 560SL is in nice driver condition and is a true
bargain at our asking price. We are aware that the car is not
perfect and has some needs and we have considered that in our
asking price and the car is priced according with those needs in
mind. The beautiful color combination makes this Mercedes
particularly desirable. The market for the R107 body style SL
Mercedes is very strong right now, particularly for the 560SL's and
this would be a great example to own. This Mercedes is a great
value and will only appreciate over time. Someone could easily
enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the
purchase price with minimal effort.
Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call
