With the introduction of the 4th generation Impala in 1965, the car
was an instant hit setting a new, all-time sales record of 1
million cars sold in the United States that year. Making the 1965,
Impala that much more special is it being a one-year only body
style. This 1965 Impala SS is an excellent example of this unique
model year. This Impala is a true 166 vin-coded super sport with
just over 46,000 actual miles. This great Impala SS began its life
with a 327 cubic inch small block V8 but was replaced with a
correct, date-coded 409 cubic inch V8. The 409 was rebuilt and
modified by Bussard Automotive & Performance Specialties in Warsaw,
IN. During the build, the 409 received a 4" forged, stroker
crankshaft and was bored .030" over, bring the total displacement
up to 477 cubic inches. The 477 cubic inch V8 was further upgraded
receiving: forged Eagle I-beam rods, forged pistons with chromoly
rings, hydraulic Comp Cam camshaft, Crane roller rockers, MSD
distributor, Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, Edelbrock Victor water
pump, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, and dual 500cfm Edelbrock
carburetors. Backing the very powerful, 477 cubic inch V8 is a
rebuilt Turbo Hydramatic 350, 3-speed automatic transmission with a
2200 rpm stall and a mild shift kit. Both the engine and
transmission perform excellent with no issues and a complete build
list and receipts for the built are available upon request. The
factory correct, Crocus Yellow exterior shines excellent and is in
very nice condition with only minor defects and age present in the
older paint. The Crocus Yellow exterior is complimented nicely by
the correct SS trim, "409" fender badges and a set of GM Rally
wheels wrapped in Kumho Solus tires. The Black vinyl interior is in
excellent condition with minimal defects to note. This great,
Impala SS is nicely optioned with features such as: power steering,
power front disc brakes, factory air-conditioning, column-mounted
tachometer, center console, GM tri-volume horn, AM/FM Pioneer
stereo with Aux, and variable speed wipers. This Impala SS is
turn-key ready for that cruise down your favorite back road or trip
to your local cruise-in or car show. You will not want to miss out
on this excellent and well-built example of a 1965 Impala SS.
