Vehicle Description
The 1994-1996 Chevrolet Impala SS was the last hurrah for full
size, body on frame, rear wheel drive performance. Upholding the
honor of all the classic SS Impala's of the 1960's, this modern big
body bruiser was properly outfitted with a Corvette based LT1 V-8.
This LT1 was slightly different than the Corvette's 300 horsepower
version, with 2-bolt mains instead of four, cast-iron cylinder
heads and a different camshaft for more low end torque. It was
rated at 260 horsepower with 330 lb-ft of torque, more than enough
to move this 4200 pound living room on wheels to 60MPH in a scant
7.5 seconds and onto a 15 second flat in the quarter mile. Power
flows rearward through a four speed 4L60E automatic transmission
and onto a classic GM 10 bolt solid rear axle with a 3.08 rear gear
and limited slip to put the power to the pavement. GM didn't just
give this big sedan a big motor and call it a day, they raided the
Caprice 9C1 police cruiser parts bin for upgraded front and rear
stabilizer bars, heavy duty springs, higher rate bushings, and
Bilstein DeCarbon performance shock absorbers at all four corners.
To bring all this hustle to a halt are power assisted and
ventilated 12 disc brakes front and rear with anti lock for control
in hard stops or poor weather conditions. The outside of this
modern muscle car has been stripped of all the chrome from its
Caprice brother and given a dramatic monochromatic appearance
package. The stance has been lowered with beautiful 17 aluminum
five spoke wheels wrapped in wide sticky performance rubber. The
look is clean, modern, and sleek. Inside is classic comfort. Big
wide leather appointed buckets up front with a full size bench seat
in back. All the power toys are present, including seats, windows,
and mirrors, automatic headlights, twilight sentinel, ice cold A/C,
and a GM/Delco AM/FM/CD stereo with automatic EQ and four big
speakers. This particular example is a one owner, 36,000 mile
garage kept beauty. It was sold brand new here in Ocala from Palm
Chevrolet and has never left the area. This means it is as clean
underneath as it is above, and there is no rust anywhere. The only
modifications are tined windows and gold plating on the emblems and
wheel center caps. The owners manual and warranty booklets are
still with the car. This beauty drives like the day it was new,
with effortless acceleration and rides like your floating on air.
This is a truly wonderful automobile, and a piece of automotive
history. Hurry in to day before this Impala is gone for good! FEES
