For Sale: 1962 Chevrolet Corvette in Lavergne, Tennessee

Vehicle Description

It's not hard to find people who appreciate the first-generation Corvette, but this one transcends the casual enthusiasts by being one of the best collector cars around. This 1962 Chevrolet Corvette is one of only 1,918 made with the 360 hp fuel injection option... and 60 years later, it is one of the even fewer that still has it under the hood today. And as you dig deeper, you're going to discover a meticulous level of restoration to NCRS originality standards, and the kind of documentation worthy of such an elite fuelie.

This is the final year for the C1, and it's the sleekest design they made. The wide opening in the front grille, single-color body, and aerodynamic ducktail rear give it a very sporty look. So it seems like the perfect car to have RPO 582: the high-performance fuel-injected motor. It's this lineage mixed with timeless style that makes this example so desirable. So a car like this gets top-quality treatment. It was given a well-documented full restoration later in life, and then in 2019, it was restored again to meet the kind of originality standards to get it ready for NCRS judging. After all, not only is the fuelie option rare but the color is, too. Fawn Beige was only offered for two years, and it's believed only 1,851 examples were done in 1962. When you have the intersection of a lower batch color and an expensive power option, it becomes clear it will be hard to find another one like this again. That's why this is a car that everyone will remember. It has a radiant gloss and shine that makes the stock fiberglass almost look gilded. And the brightwork details are nice, too, with intricate wheel covers, full trim, and split bumpers front & rear. Plus, there's always something extra special about having an option for both roofs. The pristine white folding top has a harmonizing tone with the beige, and the color-matched hardtop gives the C1 the look like it was built to be a coupe from day one. It's a total presentation that shows a long-term commitment to preserving an upper echelon example of America's sports car.

While the car looks great with either top in place, we really know that your favorite days will be the ones with the roof down. The restoration budget made sure this was a clean and crisp example of the correct fawn interior. We find it irresistibly attractive how the tones of the interior materials coordinate nicely with the shining Fawn Beige exterior. It gives the colors that kind of thoughtful look you'd usually expect on a classic European car. Beautiful leather bucket seats and a dual cowl dash really made this an individual sports car. The steering wheel ridges have that great thin, grippy feel that only came on the right cars of this era. Plus, the cue ball on top of the shifter is a great place to rest your hand. And this one has the details correctly in place, right down to the courtesy light that greets you when the door opens to the AM radio that's still cranking out tunes. Even the heater is working properly, and that's a good thing because this is the kind of car that will have you parking on pristine lawns at dawn.

While the correct presentation inside and out already made this one a true collector, it's what's under the hood that keeps this Corvette a forever in-demand classic. This is an ideal year where it was the only time the first generation had the larger 327 cubic-inch V8 with a fuel-injection option. That means there were only 1,918 C1 327 fuelies ever made. This numbers-matching motor even has the correct Rochester injector unit. It's presented with correct Corvette script valve covers, ram's horn exhaust, and even the right generator. We have a full photo file showing a meticulous restoration of this very important motor. The high-power fuelie is best experienced with a manual transmission, and so this gives you full control with the correct Borg Warner T10 four-speed. The overall driving experience is an engine that runs beautifully, gives a smart cackle from the twin tailpipes, and pulls through the gears like a freight train. So while this is worthy of some major awards, we also know you're going to take it out for major fun on Sunday drives.

A classic of this caliber also comes with the right documentation. It includes a reproduction window sticker, owner's manual, and an extensive restoration photo file. You're looking at one of the best ways to enjoy both the prestige of rare ownership and all-around vintage driving fun. Don't let this ultra-rare opportunity slip away. Call today!!!
