Extremely Original Unrestored 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300S Cabriolet: Same Family Ownership Since 1974
This 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300S Cabriolet is one of the most original unrestored examples in existence and has been under the same family ownership for the last 47 years. In 1974 the car was purchased from Alex Dearborn in completely original condition. In 1986 the car received new lacquer paint in the original color of graphite grey and a new top. The red leather interior, mechanics, and chrome are all original. The interior in particular is beautifully preserved with just the right amount of patina. The car is currently running and driving excellent. This is one of the most honest 300S Cabriolet we've come across and it's certainly the most original to come to market in a very long time.
More expensive than the 300SL sports car and almost double the price of the contemporary top-of-the-range Cadillac, the Mercedes-Benz 300S was one of the world’s most exclusive automobiles. Elegantly styled in the pre-war manner yet technologically up-to-date, the 300S was built to the Stuttgart firm’s uncompromising quality standards. Inevitably, production was limited with only 760 examples of the 300S/Sc leaving the factory between 1951 and 1958. This particular example represents a rare and exciting opportunity to own a highly original 300S Cabriolet out of long-term ownership.
