Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful 1976
Mercedes Benz 450SL in excellent condition with only 89,475
original miles. The car looks spectacular, runs great, and is a
wonderful driver. This is a two-owner car. It was sold new in
Cincinnati, OH to the original owner. He kept the car until June of
1985 when he sold it to his insurance agent who loving cared for
the car until this year when we purchased it due to his health
reasons.
This 450SL comes with both the soft-top and auxiliary hardtop. It
also comes with the original books, tool kit, data sheet, manuals,
and a wealth of original documentation that is pictured in this ad.
This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Mercedes that is
ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could
easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase
price in years to come. This Mercedes is finished in the absolutely
beautiful and highly desirable color combination of Astal Silver
Metallic (735) over Light Tan Leather (204) interior with a Black
(740) soft-top. Please peruse all of the photos, video, option
codes, and other information in this ad to get a true sense of
clean and nice this 450SL really is.
The market on the R107 Mercedes SL is absolutely red hot right now
and this example is priced to sell. Low mileage and original
examples of the R107 Mercedes SL are exceptionally difficult to
find and draw a huge premium in the current market. 89,000 miles is
low for a Mercedes of this era as they were built like tanks and
when properly maintained can run for hundreds of thousands of
miles. The low original mileage is also verified not only by the
condition of the car, but also by the clear Ohio title that shows
the mileage as "Actual."
As a side note, this Mercedes is not a dealer auction vehicle. We
hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our classics come from
owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the
vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and
encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car
inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We
photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the
450SL, just give us a call.
Exterior
The Astral Silver exterior is in fantastic condition. As one can
see in the photos, the paint has a brilliant gloss, deep shine, and
smooth finish. Both doors open and shut nicely; it has that solid
Mercedes touch and feels like a vault door closing. The car
exhibits very nice body panel fit overall. The chrome and other
bright-work look very nice. The original alloy wheels are in great
shape with no curb rash. The Michelin tires have plenty of tread
left and are correctly sized 205/65R15. There are no major
imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the
photos. There is one small spot on the hardtop visible in the
photos and some other tiny blemishes around that are too faint so
show up in the photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from
about five feet away. This car was always stored indoor and has no
rust issues. As one can see in the many photos of the underside,
this 560SL is very clean underneath. We have included specific
photos of the rockers, lower front and rear quarter panels, and
other areas on the car most prone to rust to show how nice it
looks.
Interior
The Light Tan interior of the 450SL looks absolutely fantastic. The
seats look almost brand new and are in excellent condition with no
tears, rips, or excessive wear. The seat is not overly worn at all
in the typical area on the bolster where the driver gets in and
out. All of the gauges faces are crisp and the lenses are clear.
The carpet is also in excellent condition with no holes, rips, or
stains. The door panels look wonderful and both door pulls are
solid and in tact. The Black convertible soft-top is in great
condition. The rear windows are not yellowed or foggy. The dash is
not faded, but does have some cracks. The original Blaupunkt radio
works, most importantly the dash has never been cut or modified for
an aftermarket installation. This car has never been smoked in;
there is no aroma of cigarettes what so ever and no burn marks.
The trunk is very clean and nicely detailed with the correct full
size spare tire, matching alloy rim, jack, and tool kit.
The excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the
meticulous care and attention this Mercedes has received throughout
its life and another great verification of the low original
mileage.
Mechanical
This 450SL appears to be in good mechanical condition and it is
ready to be enjoyed. The engine idles well and runs great. It is a
nice driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. In
the video one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to
about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to a
stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that it runs
great, there are no strange noises, and the car performs quite nice
overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or
the other. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car.
It runs cool and does not overheat. The gauge shows that the engine
makes great oil pressure. Also, the engine bay is clean, nicely
detailed, and correct as one can see from the photos.
Please note in the video the dash warning lights working properly;
they light up when the key is first turned on and then go off when
the engine is started as they should. There are no "check engine"
lights that stay on. The horn works as do the fog lights,
headlights, brights, turn signals, interior lights, power windows,
power antenna, power locks, indicators, wipers, and blower. The a/c
itself works and blows cold. All of the gauges work with the
obvious exception of the clock. The previous owner said that he
recently had a new correct Mercedes exhaust system installed and a
new air conditioning compressor. This Mercedes is smooth and quick
with the 4.5 liter V8 engine. Not enough can be said as to how much
of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top down
on a beautiful day.
Overall Condition
Overall, this 1976 450SL is in excellent condition and is a true
bargain at our asking price. The market on for the R107 body style
SL Mercedes is very strong right now, particularly for low mileage
and original examples like this car. This Mercedes is a great value
and will only appreciate over time. Someone could easily enjoy this
vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase
price with minimal effort.
