The third-generation Thunderbirds, including the 1962 model,
continued to be popular among consumers who appreciated its
combination of style, comfort, and performance. The 1962
Thunderbird introduced the "Swing Away" steering wheel, which swung
to the right when the transmission was in the park position, making
it easier for the driver to exit and enter the car. Under the hood
is a 390 V8 engine that fires right up on start and pushes around
300HP. This vehicle has a 3 speed automatic transmission, power
steering, power brakes, power windows, and power top. The trunk/top
compartment is in great condition, it is free from corrosion and
rust and the paint on the jams hold up well. The vehicle has been
repainted a while back but it is not a show quality paintjob.
Looking around the car there will be a few paint chips on the edges
of the body mainly on the corner areas of the hood jams/corners.
Heading into the interior of the car, the seats and door panels
have been redone and the white looks great. however the dash shows
age with cracking and the carpet does show some staining. Overall
this vehicles makes a great cruiser and would be a good small
project for someone who is wanting to add a bit of cosmetic work to
it.
