touring couple with an American big block V-8 as its heart. Is that
blasphemous? You decide after visiting MotoeXotica Classic Cars to
see for yourself. We can assure you no other SLs' will be passing
you. Car comes with a clean Auto Check report that shows no prior
accidents or concerns. Wearing an off-white hardtop over a Dark
Blue exterior, this two-door?s paint and trim are in overall very
good order. The bodywork is straight, the trunk looks great for its
age and its chrome bumpers fit tightly to the body. Please note
there is some blistering in the paint from filler used around the
wheel arch extensions and hood riser. This example was originally
made in December 1981 in Mercedes? Sindelfingen, West Germany
factory. Note that a pair of metal guards, painted body-color, have
replaced the stock five mph chrome bumpers. This car rolls on
Falken Azenis radials, size 215/45R17 in front and 275/40R17 in
back. Each tire is mounted to a five-spoke aftermarket alloy wheel.
The wheels are in very good order while the tires are in good,
original condition. That?s no typo above, there really is Chevrolet
big-block professionally stuffed engine under the hood. It is a 396
CID engine that has been bored out to .30 over 402 CID. The V-8 has
a large, aluminum radiator and a 850 CFM Holley double-pumper
carburetor, backed by a four-speed Saginaw manual transmission and
a nine-inch rear end with 2.47:1 gearing. The engine breathes
through a new set of Flowmaster exhausts. Driver convenience
features include power steering, power brakes, power windows (code
587), power locks (code 467), cruise control (code 440) and power
antenna (code 531). This is a hot rod 380SL and should not be
expected to act or drive like your standard 380SL, just saying!
Inside, the new tan custom bucket seats look gorgeous and pair
nicely with the original carpeted storage area behind. The rest of
the carpeting is in good, original order. A tan headliner
accompanies the other upholstery while the traditional big,
three-spoke stock steering wheel has been replaced by a RAS TP
three-spoke wheel of a much smaller diameter. Both side window
switches have been replaced. The inner door panels and dashboard
are in satisfactory order, as are the center console and shift
lever topped with a white knob. If you collect automotive
eccentrics or if you simply like the idea of a Mercedes-Benz with a
rollicking Chevy big block under the hood, you should make a point
to stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars today to check out this
interesting restomod. VIN: WDB10704512012462 This car is currently
