Vehicle Description
"The high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle (HMMWV or Humvee)
is a tactical vehicle produced for the US Army. The Humvee is
manufactured by AM General at its Mishawaka industrial plant. More
than 50 countries and military organizations operate these
vehicles.
The HMMWV is a lightweight, diesel-powered, four-wheel-drive
tactical vehicle built on the M998 chassis.
The vehicle has a length of 15ft, height of 6ft, and width of 7ft.
The chassis is a steel frame with boxed frame rails and five cross
members constructed from high-grade alloy steel. The body is made
of aluminum, which reduces its weight and provides high resistance
to corrosion." -Army-technology.com
This 1986 Humvee, manufactured by AM General was modified for
public use by Maine Military Authority in 2007. It has been
converted to a street legal vehicle with proper lights,
directionals, and a horn. Other features that have been added over
time to this Humvee are a full yellow paint job over the aluminum
body panels, four Corbeau Suspension seats and a "Wet Sounds" sound
system with a Stealth Remote. This Humvee comes with an additional
37" Goodyear tire and a military front brush guard.
There are receipts available for the most recent maintenance which
indicates why this Humvee performs so well. With the turn of the
key the 6.2-liter diesel motor comes to life and you realize you
are in a special vehicle that's different from most others. The
diesel motor is mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission which
shifts smoothly through the gears.
You will not win any pink slips on the dragstrip but you will be
able to travel off road like a champion.
