Vehicle Description
A real oddity here in the US, and to be honest chances are that you
will be the only one at a car show with one no matter where you
reside. However, They did make nearly 40,000 of these cool little
Kabinenroller or "Cabin Scooter". These funky little tandem
seating, bubble top cars using a Canopy style door automobiles were
designed by aircraft engineer Fritz Fend and produced by German
aircraft company Messerschmitt from 1955-1964 as in town commuters
that found a loophole in the tax that would otherwise be more
expensive with a vehicle with 4-wheels. This Messerschmitt has went
through a frame off restoration in the near past with very few
miles being put on this little bugger. It has sat in a climate
controlled personal collection among many other nice units. This
Sachs motor starts right up! It shifts and brakes as I am sure it
was intended to, the steering is funky but let me tell you what,
this thing gets more looks than a Yellow Lamborghini at any stop
light....I promise. When the Messerschmitt was imported, the state
of Indiana re-issued a VIN# due to that they already had a number
that was probably the chassis or engine number on the European
certification. with that number they also issued a VIN plate. This
is not a clone by any stretch and appears to very authentic. These
micro cars have started to appreciate like no ones business.
