generally have to make a choice, a stock truck for daily use, or a
highly modified, jacked up truck with a motor that only works above
3000 rpm for serious off road use. Typically, there is just no
middle ground. That is until Ford introduced Ford F-150 Raptor
which blended perfectly a high-performance drivetrain and an
intimidating stance with superior off-road performance into a truck
that is capable of day-to-day practicality and use. The black
finish on this truck has been well maintained and presents darn
near to showroom fresh. It features a 5.5-foot bed mated to a
four-door SuperCrew cab. While the 2017 Raptor was based on the
Ford F-150, these were dedicated off-roader trucks that are 6.4
inches wider than stock with an aluminum bed and body. This truck
sits 78.5 inches high, but not to worry because the standard side
steps make it easy to get in. This truck features the tailgate
step, a spray-in bedliner and the optional exterior and hood
graphics announcing its Raptorness. Under the hood sits a fire
breathing twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 that pumps out 450 horsepower
and generates 510 foot pounds of torque. The engine compartment is
clean and well maintained. The Raptor features higher-boost turbos,
enhanced cooling systems, and a better-breathing dual exhaust over
the stock F-150. All of this is mated to a paddle-shifted 10-speed
automatic transmission. The suspension features specialized
equipment including a long-travel suspension, beefy Fox racing
shocks and protective skid plates. Its Fox dampers are larger and
help add two inches of height. The truck rides on 17-inch
forged-aluminum bead-lock-capable wheels with huge BF Goodrich
All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires, sized 315/70, and features adjustable
steering settings, and an advanced all-wheel-drive system with
individual terrain modes complete the specialized suspension. The
Raptor's suspension allows composed cruising on the highway as well
as amazing control when venturing far off-road. The interior of
this truck is clean and has been well cared for. Sitting inside
this truck is comfy, laid-back, and frankly a bit at odds with its
macho visage. The interior has big buttons, knobs, and dials that
are easy to use and the red mark at 12 o'clock on the steering
wheel is just plain cool, and it makes you feel like an off-road
racer even in traffic. This truck features heated and cooled front
seats, rich black leather with silver trim seating surfaces, and
automatic dual-zone heating and cooling. The Raptor's 5.5-foot
cargo bed useful and its interior cubby storage is ample. This
F-150 features the optional Sync 3 infotainment system and has
Bluetooth connectivity, and 8.0-inch touchscreen, and includes
integrated navigation. Further amenities include the Pro-Trailer
Backup Assist, the Raptor Technology package (lane-departure
warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with
automated emergency braking, rain-sensing wipers, and auto
high-beams), and the panoramic sunroof. The Raptor may be more
truck than you may ever fully utilize, but man is it a lot of fun!
People love this beast and you will get admiring looks at
stoplights, thumbs up from other drivers, and people want to talk
to you about it. It is a macho truck for sure, and you will feel
