Vehicle Description
Model year 1982 represented the end of the road for the C3
generation of Corvettes. The longest running generation of
Corvette, at 15 years, and with the highest record(to this day) of
cars sold in one year(1979), the shark generation wasn't going out
without a bang. Chevrolet sent off the C3 with a special Collector
Edition model, and all 1982 Corvettes received the first ever
standard Fuel Injected engine in Corvette history. The Cross-Fire
engine as Chevrolet termed it utilized twin Rochester throttle body
injection units set diagonally apart on a low profile aluminum
intake manifold. Each throttle body fed the four cylinders on the
opposite side of the engine. This gave more low end torque and
better fuel atomization and mixture with intake air as it traveled
to the intake valve. The L83 V8 in GM speak jumped 10 horsepower
with no other changes from the carbureted L81 in 1981 models.
Suddenly base Corvette engines were back above 200 horsepower
again, the first time since the 1972 model year. With 285lb ft of
torque, new for 1982 four speed automatic transmission, and 2.78:1
rear axle ratio, the 1982 Corvette was not blisteringly fast but
acquitted itself nicely in the acceleration department especially
when considered in period. Four wheel disc brakes with aluminum
calipers, independent suspension all around, and throaty dual
exhaust give this Corvette proper sporting street credentials. This
gorgeous Corvette pictured is finished in its factory single stage
black paint that has a brilliant sheen and combined with the
beautiful dark red leather interior makes for a stunning
presentation. The mirrored T-Top panels are removable for that open
air driving experience at a moments notice. The gorgeous polished
aluminum Rallye wheels with white letter tires are period correct
and possibly the best combination of wheel and tire to be fitted to
the C3 generation. Inside this Corvette is a luxury GT car
interior. You will find deeply sculpted leather bucket seats, power
windows, power mirrors, power locks, power seat, tilt and
telescopic steering wheel, cruise control, ice cold A/C, and
upgraded Bluetooth stereo with added speakers in the rear hatch
area. The interior has received a complete restoration, and is
nicer than the day it was new. This Corvette is a joy to drive,
looks amazing, and is comfortable and well equipped for long
distance driving. Call Brian at 352-307-1968 today and get behind
