Vehicle Description
1979 Chevrolet Malibu (#949) Hello friends, we're excited and
honored to present another high quality classic car. Today, we're
offering a peek at an incredibly well built, rust free, low mileage
1979 Chevy Malibu Classic. I had the honor of buying Wally's 1979
Malibu; his pride and joy since he purchased it in 2015. Wally's a
Marine and Vietnam veteran, who, like many vets of his era, also
likes FAST cars. These G-body GM cars from this era are perfect
platforms to build off of, and that's exactly what Wally did.
According to the trim tag, this car could have come from the
factory with a manual transmission, and we believe this to be the
case. Please look at the videos and photos, as the steering column
is a manual trans column, the pedal assembly appears 100% factory,
and the transmission tunnel does not appear to be altered in any
way. This gorgeous Malibu shows just 51,084 miles, and although we
don't have hard documentation to prove mileage, wear items like
trim, chrome, and pedal wear all make me believe the miles are
correct. The undercarriage of this car is GORGOUS and the frame &
components aren't pitted up, which makes us believe this is a
southern or western car. Body panels appear to be original to the
car, but we cannot say this with certainty. It's an incredibly dry,
solid, rust free car. Notice the wide (8"?) rally wheels in back,
with slightly skinnier wheels up front. The car has a perfect
wicked street machine stance... The body is straight, and paint is
basecoat/clearcoat, finished prior to Wally's purchase in the car's
original color, Dark Blue Poly, with a tasteful amount of metallic
added. The paint is glossy, a mile deep, and has been
professionally polished & ceramic coated. Note that the cowl
induction hood is a high quality steel unit. However, the body has
some dings, nicks and touch-ups from use over the years. The
interior is nice, but the plastic panels have all been dyed to go
with the black interior, and do show some wear. Although still very
presentable, I'd call the interior driver quality. Glass, trim, and
chrome are all quite nice on this car and show incredibly well!
Please see the videos below for additional details. The
undercarriage is as honest as it gets on this car. It's rock solid,
and doesn't appear to have any floor repair performed over the
years. Notice, too, how smooth the metal is underneath, an
indicator that this car came from the south or out west. It's a
quality car. Again, please see the videos below... The transmission
is a 661 cased Muncie 4-speed. My instincts say it's an M20, based
on the shift points. The 661 cased Muncies are highly sought after
because of their added strength; another testament to the quality
of this car. The rear is a 10 bolt with a posi unit in it and what
we believe is a set of 3.08 highway gears. A set of 3.40 gears will
come with the car, although a set of lower gears than that would
certainly be fantastic for racing! This car runs. Oh, she runs.
There's a healthy cam installed, a high rise intake, and dual quads
to top off this aluminum head horsepower creator. This car is
torquey, tight, and quick. Even with these street gears, she turns
those 265 rear tires with ease. Remember, Wally was a Vietnam
veteran...he wasn't going to have some low powered nonsense.
Receipts from Wally since 2015 include a fresh Edelbrock Performer
intake and dual 500 cfm carbs, 11" clutch, bellhousing, ring and
pinion, Edelbrock Rolling Thunder cam, distributor, MSD ignition,
trailing arms and rear springs w/ air bags, front wheel bearings,
master cylinder, fuel pump, alternator, starter, battery, oil pan
gasket, timing cover gasket, and the list goes on... Please see our
videos below for a detailed overview of all of the receipts we have
for work performed on this high quality Malibu. FINANCING/DELIVERY
