Vehicle Description
Welcome to Street Dreams as we celebrate our 24th year in the
classic and muscle car business. The GMC Caballero was the
corporate cousin of Chevrolet's El Camino from 1977 through 1987.
Previously called the Sprint, it is believed that GMC chose the new
name to resemble its competitors, Ford's Ranchero and Chevy's El
Camino. These coupe utility vehicles had proven that there was a
healthy American market for these sedan-based utility vehicles with
useful cargo beds and compliant suspensions. This clean 1981 GMC
Caballero Amarillo is a fine example that clearly illustrates the
versatility of these coupe utilities. The Amarillo, previously
called the Laredo, was similar to the El Camino's Conquista package
and included several two-tone paint options. Lift the hood and
you'll find the smooth and quiet 4.4L V8 nestled in a remarkably
clean and original engine bay. Additional features include power
steering, power front disc brakes, power windows, air conditioning,
tilt steering column, cruise control, a Jensen stereo, chrome bed
rails, and 205/75R14 tires on steel wheels with original wire wheel
covers. This gem is an extremely well-preserved example, as the
images of the chassis, engine bay, and interior illustrate. Also,
the comfortable ride made possible by the trailing arm/coil spring
rear suspension is appreciated more and more as I age! One more
clean machine from the team that can make your dream a reality.
