Vehicle Description
This 1949 Ford F-1 Pickup Truck underwent an extensive frame off
restoration and is absolutely stunning! In 1948, the Ford Motor
Company launched its new body stylings for its truck lines which
replaced the aging pre-war designs which were carried forward into
1947. Additionally, Ford introduced its new truck naming
conventions with the debut of the "F-Series" trucks, the F-1, F-2,
etc., with the Ford F-Series still going strong today and sitting
at the top of the best selling trucks of all time. When 1949 rolled
around, Ford debuted some of its most drastic changes to its
passenger car lines since the Model A replaced the Model T, but the
truck lines were not completely neglected especially at the
heavier-duty end of the truck spectrum. In 1949, the United States
was also in the midst of an economic recession, which likely caused
a slowing of light duty truck sales. Nonetheless, Ford instituted
several minor stylistic changes to the '49 F-1 Pickup trucks
including the elimination of the red stripe on the grille bars and
the elimination of body color-matched wheels. On the inside of the
F-1, sun visors, glove boxes, and ash trays, all became standard
equipment and catered to driver comfort. This particular truck
comes to us after being the beneficiary of an extensive frame-off
restoration from the hands of collectors who clearly cherished this
classic Ford pickup truck. Under the hood on this '49 Ford 1/2 Ton
Pickup is a 239 Cubic Inch Flathead V8 engine paired with a single
2 barrel carburetor that pushed out 100 horsepower in its day. A 3
speed manual transmission backs the 239 V8 Flatty and is shifted
using a floor mounted shifter that makes this classic truck a joy
to drive! Exhaust exits the Ford Flathead via a dual exhaust setup
with chrome deflector tips. Riding on blackwall radial tires on red
painted rims with Ford hubcaps and beauty rings, this '49 Ford F1
has a great look and even better ride. The all steel pickup box and
tailgate, along with the wood bed with metal runners, are all in
fantastic, like-new condition. Likewise the chrome and brightwork
around the exterior of the truck is in superb shape as well. A pair
of front fog lamps also add to the classic appearance of this
post-war truck. The exterior has been beautifully refinished in
Meadow Green paint and shows particularly well. The interior on
this 1949 F-1 1/2 Ton Pickup is immaculate! The bench seat has been
beautifully reupholstered in brown tufted vinyl and the headliner
was reupholstered in grey cloth, both of which show exceptionally
well. The dash and door panels are painted beautifully in Meadow
Green paint, matching the exterior look of the truck. The dash and
steering wheel appear to be in their stock configuration and are in
fantastic, show-quality condition. The dash is equipped with a 100
MPH speedometer, oil pressure gauge, battery gauge, temperature
gauge, and fuel gauge. Whether you're looking to add to you classic
pickup truck collector or you're buying your first classic truck,
this 1949 Ford F-1 Pickup Truck would make an excellent choice.
