Restored California Car
Attractive, nicely restored 1964 Volvo PV544 Sport for sale. This special California Volvo was purchased new from Continental Volvo in Oakland California finished in Slate Blue.
This special example was purchased by its previous, enthusiast owner in Redwood City, California, and sent to Competition Motors in Groveland, California for its restoration. It was completed in 2001 and immediately began to rack up awards, 1st and 3rd place at the West Coast Meet in Sedona 2001 & 2002, 3rd Place at the West Coast Nationals in Solvang 2002, 1st place at the Carlsen Volvo Show in Palo Alto in 2003 and again in 2005, 2nd Place at Kelseyville 2004 and 1st Place in Davis, CA 2005.
The exterior shows well, the paint is shiny and the body is straight with no rust and excellent alignments. The glass and rubber are in good condition and the brightwork complete but showing some expected patina after 20 years. Body-colored 15″ steel wheels are fitted with chrome trim rings with Volvo hubcaps and a newer set of 165R-15 BF Goodrich whitewalls with over 95% tread remaining.
The interior shows well with little use and has aged gracefully with rebuilt/reupholstered seating, beautiful dash pad, door cards, panels, headliner, and rubber matting throughout. Most of the lower/painted dash area appears original and well-preserved. The trunk is in good shape with no rust or issues, and the spare tire and rubber mat are present.
The later B18 5-bearing engine was recently tuned. It starts easily; runs smoothly and quietly with no smoke or issues. It is equipped with dual SU carburetors and looks to have been out of the car when painted and presumably renewed along with all of its ancillaries at that time. The braking, suspension, and shifting all feel tight and responsive making the car wonderful to drive around town and on the highway.
