Vehicle Description
1992 Honda Goldwing Trike
The Honda Gold Wing is a series of touring motorcycles manufactured
by Honda. Gold Wings feature shaft drive, and a flat boxer style
engine. Introduced at the Cologne Motorcycle Show in October 1974,
the Gold Wing went on to become a popular model in North America,
Western Europe and Australia, as well as Japan.
For consignment, a garage kept 2 owner Honda Goldwing from 1992
that has had a trike conversion and offers as an extra a trailer in
matching paint and trim. Nicely appointed to take a long trip in
comfort and motorcycling style.
Exterior
Teal metallic with some customized painted panels covers this trike
and trailer. There is extra storage on the back of the passenger's
captain's chair and you have access to more storage between the
fenders in the "trunk". Plenty of extra lighting for a good visual
if you are riding in less than stellar conditions or at night.
Black accenting panels have a colorful pinstripe flourish on them
and a custom mountain and stream mural has been added to the rear
amid all the chrome. Shiny wheels and like new tires are all
around. A large windscreen is up front along with some extra head
lighting.
Interior
Emphasis on comfort with the standard cascading seat with back
captain's chair for the boss. These are covered in charcoal gray
vinyl with heavily padded tuck and roll designs and thick body
hugging bolsters. The arms of the captain's chair have this
covering as well and some built-in speakers are molded into the
back of the seat. A burl wood veneer covers the center over the
tank panel as well as dressing up other control areas in front of
the driver. This central panel continues towards the driver and
contains all the convenience buttons and various wood inlaid dials
and added lockable storage glove boxes. More controls are in the
driver's leg area and plenty of footrest options are also on this
trike.
Drivetrain
1500cc of Boxer 6-cylinder with Keihin CV dual 1-barrel
carburetors. There is a 5-speed manual transmission with electric
reverse. A drivetrains shaft drive ends in the back with a 2.83
gear conventional axle. Disc braking is on front and rear and
telescoping front suspension and air assisted shocks on back.
We test rode this trike and found all functions to be operations.
Riding a cruiser bike such as this is more akin to driving your
Lazy Boy down the freeway, it's that comfortable. Backing up with
the trailer requires a touch of thought but is masterable with
practice.
All in all, a great touring ride with room for 2 and enough storage
space to bring along the essentials. The world is your oyster on a
trike like this, saddle up and take full advantage of it.
