1940 Ford Standard Woody Wagon "Pop Star David Cassidy & Pearl Harbor Movie History": Wonderful history, this Woody was originally sold new & garaged in Santa Barbara, California until the late '60's when it was purchased by well-known early Ford collector Nick M. from Solvang, California. During this time, it was reportedly reconditioned, rebuilding the flathead V8, re-upholstering the original interior and re-painting it an incorrect post-war color, Maize Yellow. Purchased by the current owner in 1994, under his careful 28-year ownership, it was enjoyed for many years at the annual So-Cal Wave-Crest Woody events, local beach car shows & more Hollywood notoriety, including several scenes in the Movie "Pearl Harbor". All of this before receiving a very respectful professional body-off frame restoration, original wood preservation, correct Cloudmist-Gray body refinish & subtle '50's period style power-train upgrades. 1940 Ford Woody Wagon: "Original" Body, Standard Trim, Woodwork, Cloudmist Gray single stage paint, Interior Trim, Chassis & Suspension. Full body-off frame restoration & upgrades include: 1958 Chevrolet 283 V8 engine, Rochester 2V carburetor, 3:54 rear axle ratio, aluminum radiator (black powder-coat), 12V conversion & alternator (generator-style), new vintage braided cloth wiring harness, instrument restore/12V conversion, vintage turn signals, sub floor battery box, NOS interior floor mats, all new "Ford Script" dated tempered glass, renewed running boards, Goodyear All Weather 650/16 bias-ply tires...
Restoration Details Etc:
1) All mechanical work; installation of rebuilt '58 Chevrolet engine, rebuild of original 3 speed trans, rebuild and change differential gear ratio, complete re-build of brakes including rebuilt master cylinder and wheel cylinders, new brake drums and shoes, install sub floor battery box, complete re-wire with original braided wiring kit, re-install body parts back on car after paint, installation of vintage turn signal, install new running boards, etc was done by Wheeler's Speed Shop, Huntington Beach, CA.
2) The long grain vinyl top and grain painting on the windshield moldings, along with other interior work was done at Nick Alexander's Shop, Los Angeles, CA.
3) All wood work was done by Alex Deulloa who was the long time head of Nick Alexander's Shop and did most of Nick's cars. The wood was removed from the car, stripped, bleached, minor filling, sanded, stained, ten coats of spar varnish with each coat sanded between coats, then re-fitted and re-installed on car along with new window channels, new blind nuts and correct fasteners.
4) Paint (single stage Cloudmist Gray original to the car) was done by Pan's Coachcraft, Long Beach, CA. New glass with correct Ford script and date code bugs was purchased from Peninsula Glass Co. Vancouver, WA. All re-chroming was done by Artistic Silver Plating, Signal Hill, CA. Pin Striping on the wheels was done by Dan Harvill. (Heiden Award & extensive file included-$90K+ restoration costs).
