For Sale: 1976 Porsche 914 in Marina Del Rey, California

Vehicle Description

The car has not passed California emissions testing, and as a result cannot be sold to an in-state private party buyer without an out-of-state affidavite.

This 1976 Porsche 914 is finished from the factory in Lime Green Metallic (L98B) and was repainted under prior ownership with green plaid tartan upholstery, and it is powered by a 2.0-liter flat-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Equipment includes a removable targa top, pop-up headlights and 15″ alloy wheels. Subsequent maintenance included repair of the electrical wiring and replacement of the clutch, fly wheel, engine seals, breaks upgraded to 911 Master cylinder, rear main seal, and suspension components. This 914 is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, a car cover, and a clean California title in the seller’s name. Features include a removable black targa top, pop-up headlights, late-model impact bumpers, and black Porsche graphics on each side. Paint is good but has chips and a scratch, POR-15 coating has been applied to the rear trunk as well as around the battery tray. 15″ alloy wheels are mounted with 165SR15 Michelin XZX tires, and a matching spare is situated in the front trunk. The shocks, struts, and springs have been replaced under current ownership, The cabin features seats trimmed in black vinyl with green plaid insets as well as a matching dashboard and replacement black carpeting. Equipment includes manual crank windows, a glovebox, and a Blaupunkt push-button AM/FM radio that does not work. A four-spoke steering wheel fronts a 150-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,600-rpm redline. The five-digit odometer shows 9k miles, 500 of which were added by the seller. True mileage is unknown. The air-cooled 2.0-liter flat-four has been fitted with a carburetor in place of the factory fuel injection system. Work under current ownership is said to have included repair of the electrical system, repair of a fuel leak, oil and filter changes, and replacement of the battery pan, throttle cable, push rod tube seals, rear main seal, and valve cover seals. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. The clutch, flywheel, pilot bearing, clutch cable, and clutch spacer were reportedly replaced within the last year. An area of damage on the firewall around the clutch cable tube is also said to have been welded and repaired. Additional underside photos can be viewed in the gallery.Manufacturer’s literature is included in the sale along with a tool roll and a front-trunk-mounted spare wheel and tire.
