Vehicle Description
2008 Saturn Sky Convertible
The Saturn Corporation, also known as Saturn LLC, was an American
automobile manufacturer, a registered trademark established on
January 7, 1985, as a subsidiary of General Motors. The company
marketed itself as a "different kind of car company" and operated
somewhat independently from its parent company for a time with its
own assembly plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee; unique models; and a
separate retailer network, and was GM's attempt to compete with
Japanese automakers.
For consignment, just in time for warmer weather, a consignment
that was purchased for some fun for the current consigner, but is
now ready to move to something else, making you the potential
beneficiary. A low mileage. (38,298 to be exact), good condition
example, well cared for, with all operations of the car functional.
Built on the same platform and in the same plant as the Pontiac
Solstice, it only had a 3-year run, and numbers were not really
high. So, you have a lesser seen car, in convertible form, to speed
you to your fun destinations.
Exterior
This sporty little 2-seater has wonderful curved lines, integrated
bumpers that are presenting in body matching deep dark black with
well minded gaps overall. Sealed projector lens headlights curve
with the front of the car which melts into the front quarters with
a small vertical slit. Nice wide doors allow for easy access to the
spacious passenger compartment. 2 seat headrest bumps just like the
old T-Birds work their way to flat on the rear deck, and end in a
neat little spoiler on the top. A Porsche 928 inspired bulbous rear
is framed on the bottom with a black cowl and a centrally located
rear backup light. 18-inch wheels are all around and on top is a
black canvas convertible top in very good condition with a clear
glass window.
Interior
Black leather buckets grab you when you slip inside offering up a
high back for more support for when you get goosey with your boot.
A nice ergonomically designed center console melts into the dash
which has a wonderful curved design. Black vinyl interplays with
faux metal, and all knobs and instruments are nicely inset and well
within reach of the driver. Radio controls, a Bluetooth wireless
setup and cruise control are accessible on the steering wheel. A
trio of round deeply inset gauges front the steering wheel and are
easy to read. Black carpet floods the floors and is all clean and
well maintained. Behind the seats, where the top storage is, also
has an area of felted storage for the spare, jack and your items as
needed.
Drivetrain
Lifting up the forward tilting clamshell hood reveals a very clean
2.4-liter 4-cylinder EFI mill that throws power back to a 5-speed
automatic quick shifting transmission. A 3.91 rear axle is seen on
the back. All this engine and bay is very clean and obviously well
maintained.
Undercarriage
Plenty of straight unibody steel is underneath, with small amounts
of surface rust seen on the usual suspects. Most parts show some
minor road dirt and the factory applied finished all remaining near
showroom at this time. Independent SLA suspension is on all 4
corners, and power disc brakes are also all around and looking
strong.
Drive-Ability
Our test drive revealed this car is a hoot to drive, with nice
spunky pickup, smooth shifting from the automatic, quick braking,
and snappy handling. It cruised effortlessly at highway speeds, and
all functions were working as noted, cool A/C, and good stereo.
An example of "fun" in automotive form, this neat little
convertible provides plenty of that, and the test drive definitely
showed that. A true wind in your hair, sun in your face, sports car
2-seater, with great snap, and good handling, as well as it's been
well cared for. Now go have your fun!
