Sometimes all you want is a simple classic car with a thumping V8
and timeless good looks, and a few creature comforts never hurt
either. This 1955 Chevrolet 150 Restomod is a no-nonsense shoebox
Chevy that runs and drives and great as it looks, and offers all
the right upgrades to make it a fantastic cruiser that's still
happy to hit the shows and dominate.
Thanks to a comprehensive restoration finished only 4,227 miles
ago, this great-looking Chevy has that classic post look that never
seems to go out of style. Judging by how quickly cars like this
sell, we know you guys and gals love the timeless look and it's the
kind of car you'd build yourself, preserving the integrity of the
original design while adding a dose of horsepower that makes it a
blast to drive. The classic bright red paint job looks
period-perfect on the simple, clean lines of the '55 Chevy, and
they laid off the metallic and pearls so it has a very honest look
that's straight out of the '50s. Although thanks to modern
materials and techniques, the luster and depth quality is a hundred
times better than anything found back then, with a smooth finish
that simply glistens under our lights. Sure, it's not a trailer
queen, and an imperfection or two can be found upon closer
examination, but at this price point it doesn't get much better
than this. They also resisted the urge to make radical
modifications to the body, because, honestly, do you really think
you could improve on this? Thankfully, all the original trim is
intact, with the 150 offering a less ornate look right out of the
box that works extremely well with the head-to-toe restoration this
car received. All the trim was restored at the same time as the
rest of the car, and it includes clean 1-piece bumpers that give it
a smooth look that's not at all obvious. This 150 looks fantastic,
ready to show or go.
The spectacular custom black interior was built for cruising and is
loaded with goodies that make it an absolute pleasure in which to
spend some time. Anchored by a pair of bucket seats that were
upholstered by the pros, and including a matching rear bench, it's
a skillful blend of restomod style inside this classic that really
works well. A custom center console houses the Lokar shifter for
the 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission, as well as a pair of
cup holders and good storage space. A custom-painted tilt column
and matching Grant GT red leather steering wheel give it a modern
feel inside, while the original dash was beautifully restored to
preserve the twin cockpit feel that was so popular at Chevrolet in
the 1950s. Classic Instruments gauges in the original panel are a
cool upgrade for the driver, and there's a Premier double-din
touchscreen head unit in the original radio's slot in the dash that
handles all the entertainment. Custom Bowtie floor mats protect the
plush black carpets that are illuminated by bright LEDs, a powerful
A/C system uses the original controls and blows freezing air
through the under-dash unit, and custom aluminum accents in the
dash add the perfect amount of polish inside. The door panels are
exquisite custom pieces, as is the insane headliner above, and the
trunk was finished with custom panels that include a killer
enclosure for the speaker system out back.
The great thing about the small block Chevy's longevity is that you
can drop a modern motor under the hood of a vintage shoebox and it
fits perfectly. Thanks to that smooth-running and powerful ZZ4 350
V8 crate engine, this car cruises effortlessly at modern speeds,
starts easily, and parts are plentiful just about anywhere in the
country, so long trips are worry-free affairs. With plenty of
giddy-up and the benefits of modern compression, it's happy on pump
gas and an electronic ignition system fires it instantly. Finned
Edelbrock valve covers and a matching air cleaner further dress up
the gorgeous engine bay, along with a shiny new 12-volt alternator,
modern A/C compressor, and power brake system that was painted to
match the engine bay. A stock-looking radiator keeps it cool under
the harshest conditions, and with Patriot long-tube headers that
feed into a recent Magnaflow dual exhaust system, it has an
authoritative rumble to it. The chassis is neatly detailed and
features upgrades throughout, and with power steering and power
front disc brakes out back it means it's a fantastic highway
cruiser. Shiny staggered Boss chrome wheels were added to give the
car a hot-rod look and they wear 225/40/18 front and 255/35/20 rear
blackwall performance radials with plenty of grip.
Classic good looks, plenty of power, and enough custom touches to
make people look twice, this '55 Chevy is a great way to travel.
