The 1956 F-100 is a one-year only body style. The 1956 F-100 is easily identified as it has vertical windshield pillars and a wrap around windshield as opposed to the sloped pillars and angled windshield of the 1953-55. The 1956 model also offered a larger wraparound back window as an option, as well as the Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission -- these options are extraordinarily rare and are highly sought after -- This 1956 Ford F100 has BOTH of these options.
Only 6,200 original rear wraparound windows ("Big Windows") were built. Be careful of aftermarket knock-offs, as this is an easy conversion. The VIN tag shows this pickup was built in the San Jose Plant code (R) and with a 272 Light Duty V8 (Auto) represents the Ford-O-Matic transmission which was an option, a 3.73 rear end and code R for the Red color. She was a meticulous nut and bolt frame-off restoration in 2000, showing 116 miles since its restoration. There are a few added interior upgrades that were owner preference and were added tastefully -- the originality is impeccable. This pickup has been shown several times but for the most part it has been in a private collection for the past 20+ years. It runs and drives just like it just came off the showroom floor and is in coucours condition.
