Vehicle Description
This custom 1973 Volkswagen Samba Type 2 23-window Microbus
re-creation has undergone a 12-month professional rotisserie
restoration by Overland Imports. Nothing has gone untouched and no
expense has been spared. As part of the 23-window re-creation, this
bus has been fitted with correct belly pans, providing added
chassis rigidity, like the original 23-window German buses. The
pans are an important structural component when a bus is upgraded
with a large sunroof opening and roof windows. It also came factory
equipped with a limited-slip differential. The bus is finished in
two-tone colors with an Ivory White top and a Turquoise bottom over
a white and gray interior. It features safari front windows, two
sets of pop-out windows on each side, a full center retractable
ragtop sunroof, double cargo side doors and seating for nine. The
front and rear wooden roof racks and ladder provide for additional
storage. Powered by a 1500cc 4-cylinder engine mated to a 4-speed
manual transmission, the complete drivetrain has been rebuilt,
including the engine, transmission, and transaxle. The engine
compartment was color-matched, and a graduated crank pulley was
installed along with an adjustable tensioner and generator pulleys.
A new carburetor was installed and a new distributor, ignition
coil, spark plugs and wires. The suspension, steering and braking
systems have also been rebuilt with new parts throughout. The
electrical system was completely redone, from the wiring harness to
the generator, voltage regulator and battery. This 23-window
re-creation rides on Lotus off-white wheels with chrome hubcaps
wrapped in whitewall tires. **TITLED AS 1973 VOLK KOMBI**
