The Third Generation or C3 Vette was built for the 1968 through the
1982 model years and undoubtedly probably the hardest time for any
automotive builder, but the Corvette had something no one else had
and that was a car that was designed so differently than anything
else on the road. In fact, it set new sales records for the
Corvette during that time. The Corvette C3 design team was put in
to motion four years before it would be produced and when the final
car, "The Shark" emerged. The body and interior were completely
redesigned but would carry over some mechanicals from the C2. What
we have here is an absolute exceptional largely original car here
at our GR Auto Gallery Traverse City location. The seller has owned
the car for almost forty years and in that time has basically just
done routine maintenance and bought a new soft top for it. He
bought it from the original owner that said he had never painted
the car and based on what I have found, I believe the paint to be
original as it has some bumps and bruised or shall we call it
Patina with some touch ups along the way from the current seller.
This is a two top car with the original hard top coming with the
car as well. This appears to be a numbers matching engine and
transmission. The engine number is 18S414162 VO3I4HT making this
the 327/350 HP. The Transmission is stamped correctly with the VIN.
The Carb is a Rochester Q-jet but I do not believe it to be
original to the car based on the numbers I looked up. The interior
is in very good original condition and the car starts, runs, drives
and shifts very well. This is a power steering and power brake car
that has really remained in unbelievable unmolested condition. It
really is hard to find things like this anymore with such long term
ownership and excellent mileage. Please let us know if you have any
further questions.
