Vehicle Description
Ready for an exclusive project? For our British "Austin"
enthusiasts, Zoom Classic Cars presents a once in a lifetime
collection that is ready for a new owner to restore the spark back
into this family. This offering is the result of 25 years of
collecting that has produced a uniquely diverse 30 vehicle
inventory of 1947-1953 Austin(s), some very unique project cars and
loads of Austin parts. Unfortunately, time has caught up with the
current owner and he is unable to see his final vision for
restoration through. Some might recognize these models as a close
looking "Morris" rather than "Austin". Here is the brief history.
The Austin Motor Company, better known as Austin, was an English
automotive manufacturer that was established in 1905. Austin was
founded by Herbert Austin and was one of the first English car
makers. The company first started creating more luxurious models,
yet one of Austin's most famous models was the Seven, a simple,
inexpensive economy car. In 1952, Austin merged with Morris to
create the British Motor Corporation, although both the Austin and
Morris names continued to be used for similar products. Together,
these companies would sell the legendary Mini before the model
became an independent brand. Austin was also part of the legendary
Austin-Healey collaboration that produced some of England's most
notable sports cars. The Austin brand would go through various
owners, including British Leyland and the Rover Group, before being
discontinued in 1987. Breaking down this collection as
