For Sale: 1976 MG Midget in Lutz, Florida

Vehicle Description

This 1976 MG Midget is the sharp-looking drop-top classic with a driver-ready style. So it makes for the ideal kind of nimble classic that's a true sunny day friend.

Because owning an MG stands out in the crowd, and there's no better way to fly the flag of English craftsmanship than in a dark color that you know everyone will call British Racing Green. The finish was a later upgrade, and you know it has been treated with proper care by the way it continues to have a nice presentation. These Midgets have kept their appeal because their small size doesn't mean they missed out on style. The taller fenders that let both the hood and the trunk dip below are the kind of sleek lines that we love on a classic European. And there are good details, like the Rostyle wheels and the way the nice-fitting black roof goes well with the clean rubber bumpers.

When you take the top down, the good-looking full black interior and black boot cover mean this one continues to have a well-coordinated style inside and out. MG understands small cars, and so the interior was built to feel good with high-back bucket seats and good legroom. This one also has the right features for a proper cruiser, including an AM/FM/CD stereo with aux input to give you upgraded driving music. And the wood-rimmed Moto-Lita sports steering wheel gives you a good view of the crisp/classic Smiths gauges.

These final generation Midgets received the largest motor ever available to these sprightly MGs. The 1493 cc inline-four under the hood produced more torque than the earlier 1275 cc unit, which now made it better suited to American tastes. Add this to better gearing, and this was a quicker car with an entertaining performance. The engine bay has the look of regular maintenance, including the fundamentals, like hoses, wires, and Stromberg side-draft carburetor. The setup is specifically built for you to take advantage of the fully-synchronized four-speed gearbox and get the most out of this motor. The light body weight, independent front suspension, and front disc brakes all contribute to the sporting attitude.

We like this drop-top because it's a good driver that also leaves room in your budget for some of the tinkering and tuning that's fun in a British classic. So if you're looking for a big personality in a small size, call today!
