Vehicle Description
You stopped to look at this 1968 Chevrolet Impala because it's a
great-looking hardtop at an affordable price. But then when you see
it's a V8 coupe that revels in being very vintage while also being
a good cruiser for today.
The squared-off roofline of this Impala is a bit different, and
Chevy fans know this is something very special. 1968 was the first
year for the Impala Custom Coupe. This gave the Impala the same
roofline as the top-dog Caprice. It gives this coupe some added
prestige to its full-sized line. And speaking of the body lines,
this Impala really knows how to show them off. Good sheet metal fit
shows off the outstretched front fenders, smooth trunk, and the
sporty lines that seem to all meet in the large doors. You'll
occasionally sport upgrades to make this a better cruiser. For
example, the 18-inch alloys mean better tires. But overall, this
one keeps a vintage attitude. That's why they took the time to give
this a nice respray of the factory-correct Grecian Green later in
life, the form-hugging bumpers have an attractive originality, and
there are even cool details, like possibly the original dealer tag
on the trunk.
The interior continues the vintage cool feeling. You have two wide
rows of bench seats that look great, right down to the button-top
seatbacks. It makes for the kind of space where family and friends
can really spread out on an ice cream run. There're even provisions
for air conditioning - it has been upgraded to R134a but will
likely need a recharge to blow cold again. And while it makes for a
fun driver, this one is likely to impress the vintage car fans the
most. It's in the details everywhere from the working AM radio to
the dome light that greets you when the doors open.
The engine is a later upgrade, but it does keep the appearance
where most people will just assume it's original. Not only does
this 327 cubic-inch small block have an honest style, but you'll
also sport good maintenance - including newer plugs, wires, and the
distributor cap. It fires up easily, drives nicely, and the
two-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly. Plus, power
steering, power brakes, front discs, and modern tires keep this
classic a solid cruiser.
This Impala Custom Coupe has an impressive classic style all over
its unique body. So at this affordable price, you know you need to
