Vehicle Description
1967 Chevrolet Malibu
Like the Tri-Five Chevys that came before it, the Chevelle is one
of those cars GM aced right out of the gate and continued to
perfect. Eventually, the marque became one of the strongest brands
in automotive history; and at one point, with a full list of body
styles, options, trim grades, color combinations, and engines which
ranged from mild to outrageous, literally embodied the 'custom
built' nature that defines the muscle car era.
Looking like it is fresh out of the restoration shop, this 1967
Malibu has had a major engine and transmission rebuild 2,100 miles
ago and is raring to go. A restoration was performed in the past,
but it literally looks like it was yesterday. Rally wheels, raised
white letter tires, near perfect bucket seat interior, and P/S, P/B
and a 4 speed manual transmission, definitely one of the highlight
cars to take in and consider for the serious Malibu fanatic, right
here in the Hallowed former mall Halls of Classic Auto Mall.
Exterior
Madeira Maroon covers this car on the paint front and is a nicely
done paint job. All is covered nicely on these body panels which
are minding their gaps nearly perfectly. Well preserved chrome and
trim very shiny and mirror-like is noted on the bumpers, and lower
trim belt, which is nicely aligned on the doors. The deep flying
buttress B pillars frame the trunk and the rear window which is
surrounded by good brite-work. On the rear of this car are corner
wrap-around taillights that have a black painted panel connecting
the two sides running directly below the trunk. A like new bumper
is below and all is straight and well with this exterior
restoration. Correct rally wheels with correct trim rings are
wrapped by BF Goodrich rubber on all 4 corners. Can you say a near
flawless presentation?
Interior
With a swing of the doors and you are getting a coming attraction
preview of what wonders never cease to amaze you inside. The door
panels are black vinyl, and have horizontal stitched tucked roll
panels, some chrome trimmings and are near perfection. Inside low
back buckets with more tuck and roll inserts and smooth bolsters
and some thin chrome trim surrounding the tubs, are stars in this
interior galaxy interplay. The rear bench has a similar pattern
only in long form and is pristine. All this floats in beautiful
black carpeting, and on either side of a 1967 styled center
console. This houses a glovebox, and a tall chromed ball topped
long armed shift lever and a centralized clock. The dash is all
original with an applique strip which houses the lights, ignition,
and wipers being on the top of the gauge cluster. To the right is a
chrome and brushed aluminum inlay runs across the rest of the dash
and houses the AM/FM/Cassette player. The driver's wheel is
original and shows nearly no wear what-so-ever. On top is a tight
black headliner with a working dome lamp. A shout out to the trunk
which has been completely relined with a fresh coat of speckled
trunk spray and a gray and black square pattern tweed vinyl liner,
spare tire and jack assembly.
Drivetrain
Within the completely restored engine bay presenting in shiny black
with all non corroded bolt ons and supple hoses and wiring resides
a correct and possibly original recently rebuilt 1967 327ci V8 in
traditional Chevrolet orange. It also has some bling with a chrome
air cleaner cover, alternator and valve covers. A 4-barrel
Edelbrock carburetor is now atop this healthy mill and feeds fuel
and air through an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold. Bolted to
the back is a Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission circa 1967 and
a 10-bolt CE stamped 3.08 positraction axle puts the ponies to the
pavement.
Undercarriage
Gloss black painted floor pans and solid framing in black presents
with nary a hint of road dirt or surface rust. No drips from bottom
end of engine and we note independent coil springs for the front
suspension, and a 4 link with coil springs for back. Power disc
braking for front, and power drums for rear. Headers snake their
way down from the orange block and expel spent fossils out the rear
of the car via a dual Flowmaster exhaust system.
Drive-Ability
This car started quickly and ran nicely. All functions worked well,
and it has smooth acceleration and handling. The interior had
plenty of room and was definitely comfortable. It would be a great
reliable cruiser on a long drive with the ability to smoke the
competition at the stoplights.
Meticulous attention to detail for this all buttoned up body and
frame for this car. A very nice straight rust-free presentation. If
you are looking for a better than factory original car, look no
further than our main showroom! This consigner went crazy, and is
now parting with it, giving you the opportunity to sidle in and get
yourself a nearly showroom new Malibu right out of 1967.
