For Sale: 1959 Ford Thunderbird in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Rare factory air conditioning in a convertible.
1958-1960 was known as the "square birds". They were the first Thunderbirds with a back seat, also given credit as the first personal luxury car. They had distinctive style all it's own.

EXTERIOR: Very nice straight body with proper body gaps. The original Colonial white is polished very smooth and glossy. Only minor flaws if you look for them. Overall the chrome shows real well. Rechromed rear bumper, replaced door handles. It has dual deluxe mirrors. Upgraded with a rich black Hartz cloth. Radial whitewall tires, mint set of hubcaps.

INTERIOR: Sporty bucket seats and a console. Overall very good. Door panels, dash pad, carpet show well. Correct reproduction upholstery with chrome piping. The instruments, knobs, heater controls look good. A retro stereo and upgraded speakers were added. It also has seat belts front and back.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: 352-300 hp runs smooth. It features rare air conditioning, power steering and brakes. It all looks factory- correct manifolds, air cleaner, valve covers, even the washer fluid bag. Overall clean and proper.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It has a complete gray and white liner kit in great shape. The spare tire has a matching cover. The 1959 Bird has a unique power top system. A button inside the car releases the solenoids that open the trunk lid, then there's a power top switch located in the trunk.

UNDERSIDE: Appears to be solid metal with a light undercoating. Front end components appear to be new. Lower control arms, bushings, shocks have been replaced. Steering components look good. In back it has new coil over shocks. There's a new dual exhaust system. The fuel tank has been replaced. It has 4 wheel drum brakes, the e-brake is hooked up. Bottom of the motor is clean, it has a Cruise-o-matic transmission.

This is a beautiful car with unique style features in and out. Overall very good shape. It makes a great cruiser!
