This 1938 Ford Phaeton convertible is from the collection of the
late Ford restoration specialist Dennis Carpenter here in Concord,
North Carolina. The Phaeton was very rare - only 1,169 were
manufactured in '38, the last year for this model. This Ford was
the beneficiary of a professional restoration by the Carpenter team
in 2013. A fresh coat of Sheridan Blue was applied and it looks
amazing. All chrome is outstanding with accents that include the
classic '38 hood ornament, dual mirrors and a near perfect tan
convertible top. Steel wheels with 'V8' hubcaps, trim rings and
wide-white Firestone 6.00 x 16 bias-ply tires complete the exterior
package. The interior is completely restored with seating that is
upholstered in handsome pleated button/tufted brown leather that
looks much better than new. A stunning wood dash holds factory
gauges and a functional AM radio behind a beautiful classic 'banjo'
wheel. Every detail is finished to perfection. The Ford is powered
by a 221ci flathead V-8 factory rated at 85hp. This flathead was
completely rebuilt in 2013 with upgrades that include an Isky
performance cam, Fenton exhaust headers and stainless dual exhaust
system. It runs as smooth as silk, likely produces substantially
more horsepower than original and is backed by a 3-speed manual
transmission w/factory floor mounted shifter. The 6-volt electrical
system, also performs very well. A fully restored, spotless chassis
mounts front/rear transverse leaf spring suspension and mechanical
brakes have been upgraded to 4-wheel hydraulic drum units. The Ford
is also equipped with a Columbia 2-speed rear differential that
provides two final drive ratios for town/highway. This pristine '38
Ford Phaeton will certainly be the centerpiece of your Blue Oval
garage. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
